If you are tired of being ignored by those who advertise but do not return calls, please give Guthrie's a call. They do a great job, are reliable and your tasks are completed on your timelines. Five solid stars!!!

I pointed out an area that I wanted it installed with the understanding they would adjust as needed once they could lay it out in the attic. On the first day I noticed a wire running across the opening for the lift which would prevent using the lift. They were able to correct that but then mounted the hardware incorrectly which prevented the lift from retracting into the opening. They blamed the motors but there was no problem with them at all. I had to remove and reinstall the mounting hardware in order to allow the lift to go all the way into the attic. I asked for some of the $3500 I paid back but was told no. I will not use their services again.

The world of home repair is a scary place - it is hard to find someone who is honest, dependable,…read moreand skilled who is also willing to go the extra mile. Jason Marsden and his team at Professional Home Repair and Maintenance services fit that description to a tee. I was referred to Jason by Lumber Liquidators when I was faced with a serious family emergency that required the installation of new flooring in a relative's home. I live in California and was managing all of the details remotely, which normally would probably have made things impossible to accomplish. However, Jason walked me through my options, helped me define the best solution, went out of his way to go to the store himself to see what was in stock and available quickly, then sat with me while I viewed the options online so that I could get the purchase completed. He then drove personally to Birmingham to pick up the missing components (and did not charge me for it!), rescheduled his team to work on New Year's Day and through the following days to get the job done in time to allow my very sick niece to return to a safe and clean home. Not only was Jason fantastic, but every person he sent to work on the project was fantastic as well; they cleaned up everything as if it was a hospital operating room, they solved problems before I even thought about them, and were unfailingly cheerful, supportive, and empathetic throughout the entire process. Last but not least, the price point was reasonable in the extreme - I can say with absolute certainty that it was the best experience with home repair i have ever had, and if you are thinking about having work done, you could not do better than to work with Jason Marsden and his team.

Who would have thought a simple deck refurbishment (pressure washing, board repair, and staining)…read morecould go so wrong? Drew's enthusiasm while giving the quote and promoting his abilities and experience ultimately led me to select him for this "simple" job; unfortunately, it the job couldn't have gone more wrong. Please beware of Drew and his son Adrian (of Splintered Gentry Woodworks) and their poor craftsmanship when working with wood and stain (damaged deck boards when removing items, moss and dirt not removed during pressure washing, inaccurate angle cuts, denied he rebuilt a rotted planter to different dimensions, runs and pools of dripped stain, missed staining areas, purchased imperfect and damaged replacement boards, removed screws but used only nails rather than screws as he had stated, told me pressure treated wood lattice is no longer sold at Home Depot or Lowe's while both were in stock, and FINALLY, used my A/C unit as their ladder causing the domed motor-housing cover to cave in). It's also unfortunate that Drew and his son took zero ownership of their poor workmanship even when I pointed out flaws, wrong measurements, and other ineptitudes of their work.
