My wife and I stayed at a fountain view suite the night of our wedding, (03/07/18), which our family booked for us as a gift. We woke up the next morning to realise that we had been burgled while we were asleep in the room, my wife's purse which held the money we received as wedding presents was stolen. We were told by the house keeper that a key to our suite was in an unlocked drop box and that anyone who was inside the building or knew the code to get into the hall where the drop box is could enter our room, however we have heard multiple stories about how many keys and where they were from this hotel. Our safety and security was at a serious risk and this simply should not have been possible. We have had to spend the days after our wedding with police and detectives because of this aggravated burglary. We asked the hotel manager to reimburse our family for money that they paid for the room first and was refused, we then asked to be reimbursed for the stolen goods which included wedding gifts, and they have so far refused and will not take responsibility for the lack of safety and security, although we believe an unauthorised person entering our room at night is clearly a breach of security. We have not heard back from the hotel so far. We hope that we can be reimbursed and this is a one time thing as we would hate for this to happen to anyone else. read more
