This is one of the weirdest reviews to write but if you lose someone close; Indiana Funeral Care…read moreshould be one of your first stops. I watched my family friends go through one of the most difficult times of their lives (laying their daughter to rest) and the service and kindness Tiffany Bailey gave them can not be matched. She went above and beyond to make sure the service flowed nicely, everyone had what they needed, and everyone had the time they needed to grieve. If you suddenly lose a loved one and don't know where to turn; I strongly recommend starting here.

(I had had a very different experience when trying to work with Crown Hill Cemetery). Conkle supported me every step of the way, knowing that I was planning all of this while living out of state-- they went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly. They were also very knowledgeable when I asked for recommendations for everything from a minister, an organist, to a local restaurant. I appreciate their helpfulness and attention to detail. Highly recommend them.

Selecting a funeral home is something we never like to think about until the time is facing us…read more Should that happen and you are put in the path of selecting a funeral home for your loved one, I'd recommend Conkle on 16th Street. They also offer Pre-Planning packages to avoid putting your loved ones through this experience. They are compassionate, kind, respectful of your loved ones, and they gently walk you through the selection process. They realize you're numb from grief and no one is ever ready for this process in our lives. Conkle's interior remains as it has been for years but is clean, well maintained and cared for even though the drapes are certainly out of style. I know! Who's looking at the drapes at a time like this? The chapels are large and can be increased or decreased as necessary. They try to accommodate every person's budget and are helpful even after the service when you need death certificates or have questions. One additional thought is many restaurants are located within walking distance of Conkles in Speedway for those who spend hours supporting the family. This was brought to my attention and much appreciated for those assisting the family and friends.

I also noticed, and later utilized, a bench out front near a standing ashtray. Through the double doors at the entrance was a large foyer with a vaulted ceiling that was well decorated. To the left, down a short hall, was the chapel where our friend was. The funeral home seemed large, airy and bright. I am not sure if there was more than one chapel, but the chapel we were in was quite big with many pews. I overheard some ladies remarking on what a wonderful job Little & Sons had done with their relative. They had said you would think they personally knew him with the touches they made. I believe that says quite a lot. The ladies' room was a bit cramped and possibly in need of a little maintenance, but was still nicely decorated as well and fully stocked. There was also a bench inside on which to sit. The toilet in the handicapped stall has some trouble flushing and they could upgrade to two sinks. When we first arrived, I noticed a lady at a desk off to the side that smiled at us, but we were not ever greeted by any staff like I have been at many other funeral homes. Overall, I thought it was a lovely place. I feel like Little & Sons would be a good choice for anyone in need of a nice sendoff for a loved one.

As difficult as the death of a loved one can be, they have made this process quite stress free, even with some special circumstances we have with the loss of my son. With my living two hours away from Greenwood, communication has been very important and they have not hesitated to communicate with me through emails, texts, and phone calls as needed. I especially appreciated their even sending me a text just to see how I'm doing emotionally.
