My son started at this school when he turned two. They only take two year olds through VPK (that's…read morethe only negative thing about the school). Ms. Sarah is the two year old class assistant and she is firm, but loving. She talked to my son about the weather and his feelings and he would come home saying the funniest stuff. She treated him like the little person he is, not just another kid. The lead teacher retired this year after 12 years and was replaced by the wonderful, enthusiastic Ms. Alba. Now that he's in the 3 year old classroom, the kids take turns as line leaders and calendar leaders, learning how to share responsibilities while also learning about the months of the year. They also work on their letters, colors, and numbers, of course. The school has a better handle on managing any rare instances of discipline problems than other schools I've experienced. My son has learned great ways to share; how to ask for a turn rather than just ripping something away from another child... and how to accept when it isn't his turn. He's always been tiny and was picked on at other schools, but just as he is learning how to use his words to deal with problems, so are the other children and I find that he doesn't get roughed up at this school. Some Facts: The school is non-denominational. They have the best playground in town. It is open all summer and works great for government workers who are headed downtown. Its holiday schedule matches up with the government's holiday schedule. No fall or spring break to scramble to find a babysitter for. I think the price is very reasonable. You can buy a really healthy lunch for an additional $2.50 per day. The menu changes, but they always have a fruit, a vegetable, a protein and a whole grain. Sorry such a long review ... but it's hard for me to let him go and grow up. The only relief is knowing that when I can't be with him, he is in a place that loves him, protects him and helps him grow.

My husband and I were excited to visit your location with our son. We arrived to our appointment,…read moreonly to be greeted with confusion. The receptionist had no clue what I was talking about. He ask me who I spoke to and sighed with frustration. He said you must have spoken to someone from corporate...they do this all of time. Then, he took a call in the middle of me trying to show him a text with our appointment confirmation. The call took several minutes upon someone inquiry of the daycare. Later, I interrupted him and excuse myself out of the building. I'm not sure how the daycare conducts business but my suggestion is there needs to be a better line of communication and training on professionalism.

I want to preface this review by saying that Childcare Network has some legitimately good people on…read morestaff, who do the best with what they have, and in no way do I want this review to be a reflection on them. Secondly, if you send your child here and have an issue, the highest person I've been able to reach is Brandi Rutledge, their regional manager. Her email is brutledge@childcarenetwork.com. I encourage you to reach out and petition her to have Childcare Network pay their employees what they're worth. Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the "fun" stuff. For starters, you should know that "Childcare Network" is the operational name for "Child Development Schools" which is owned by Glencoe Capital, a private equity firm, (oh and by the way, their direct phone number is 312.795.6300 - please call them and make your voice heard). That's right, you can be sure that "Childcare Network" the company will never be putting the needs of your child, you, or their own staff first, because, THEY ARE OWNED BY AN INVESTMENT FIRM, and their bottom line will always come first. I know this because I tried to find out who their CEO is, but they don't have one - they report to Glencoe. This is a large company owned by the firm, and it is truly a "Network" as they own 160 daycare centers across the southeast United States. They pay their employees pennies on the dollar compared to other daycare centers (employees give them a "2 out of 5" on Indeed.com under the category of compensation), terminate their employees for dubious reasons, and pack classrooms full of kids. Now that you know this, let me explain how this will translate to your experience. My child didn't start at this location. He started at the Childcare Network on Raymond Diehl road, which is HALF the distance to my house from this center on Park Blvd. However, they began having coverage problems at Raymond Diehl. Legally, a childcare center can only have so many children per teacher in each class. Well Childcare Network pushes that number to its absolute limits routinely. What does that mean? My child started to get denied at the front door. "Sorry, we're full, we'll give you a refund for the day, but we won't be able to take him today" is a sentence you will routinely hear if you send your child to Childcare Network. So what happened? This situation got so bad that the ENTIRE LOCATION closed down permanently. So for the past several months, we've now been sending him to this center, on Park Blvd, where all the children at the other center were relocated. This center is larger and theoretically, wouldn't have these same issues, right? WRONG. My child has been turned away at the door, has had to wait in the morning for an extra teacher to arrive to the school before he could be let in (several other parents were also waiting), and today, instead of closing at 6pm, their usual time, my wife and I were informed they will be closing at 2pm due to lack of staff, and we have to leave our jobs and pick him up early. Bottom line: YOU WILL NOT GET RELIABLE CHILDCARE HERE. My child likes this new center better, because there are more kids his age, and he's starting VPK in four months at a different facility. If not for those two factors, I would have unenrolled him from this place with a quickness, but my wife and I don't want to disrupt his experience and force him to make all new friends, when he'll have to do that anyway in a few months. To put a cap on this, "Childcare Network" aka Child Development Schools is a shining example of why childcare DOES NOT WORK as a for-profit venture. If you don't pay your employees adequately for their work, they won't show up, and who can blame them? The unfortunate part is WHEN they don't show up, your and your child's lives will be disrupted. I thought we would have learned our lessons after COVID, to pay our essential workers fairly, but it seems not - as a society, we continue to bow to the almighty dollar, and the owners of Glencoe Capital/Childcare Network are right up at the very front of the financial prayer circle.

His water and power bills went down and he didn't pay his teachers. But he said his billing would be the same because his costs were the same. He then kicked my kids out because I left a note asking how he justifies his claim. Meanwhile theres mold, the roof leaks, the ceiling was caving in in the baby room. When I said I was advocating for the teachers, he said, "it's not your place to be their advocate." He also reminded me that, "[I'm] the parent." Yeah, I am the parent. That's why I'm advocating for the women in direct contact with my kids and I am holding you accountable, Patrick. He also called me an "adversary" and said he couldn't trust me. All because he couldn't be professional regarding a note.

We had to stay with this childcare facility since we had no other place to turn to. We were finally…read moreable to leave. The infant room was where we had our issues. The children/babies were not strapped in to the highchairs and then were left unattended while workers changed diapers in other room or were tending to other children. Babies were unattended with bottles propped. Causing my son to have multiple ear infections. This can also cause choking if not monitored. My baby was fed food other than what I specified and brought multiple days. (at one point it was a week straight) I had witnessed the wrong bottle (of milk) given to the wrong child on a few occasions. One morning I was compelled to stay until 9 am and help because they had too many babies/children ratio per worker. I would repeatedly mention issues but wouldn't show my anger since I didn't have any where to go and didn't want to piss off the people watching my child. I just repeatedly stated my expectations and wishes and it would be disregarded. Even though they had too many children in the infant room they would keep accepting new applicants. Children that were not ready to move up in classrooms would and other times children that were ready to move up were not able to because of number of children and the classes/rooms being understaffed. Changing table may have been "sanitized" but daily I would change my child and see food, hair, dust, and dirt covering edge of the changing table. I would end up cleaning the changing table. Same with the floor. grass and dirty on the rug that the babies would be playing and crawling on. I would have to remove grass from babies mouths. Noses were constantly left untouched with snot rolling out of noses and into mouths. Workers would see and just keep playing with babies while this snot was getting all over kids and toys. Witnessed prescription being stashed in kitchen drawer. was told it was pain pills. These could easily be accessed by children. Often I would show up and no one was watching the children eating in the front building. No one would greet me at all or not until I made it passed to the infant room. This is just some of it... We were not the only ones to get fed up and have to pull our child. we couldn't handle it any longer. Now family is on a rotation until we are picked from waiting lists. The daycare still had the nerve to ask for money to pay for the 30 days notice that they didn't get. We enjoyed out time there in the beginning. The more time I spent there, the more I saw with my own eyes. I never met the owner. I like some of the workers there on a personal level. Some were nice. This doesn't make up for other workers or poor care. Couldn't stand another day. 6/25/2014
