I could not have asked for a better structured family oriented school to start my daughter out in. The communication between the teacher and I was amazing. I knew exactly what to expect, reminders all the time. Just a fun loving school. Their teachers are the best really. The small class size really helps each child get the attention they need, plus the invaluable teacher's assistants and room moms. Maybe we'll go back in the future, I definitely will be sending my two year old when she turns 3. They offer some great after school classes such as cooking, chess, leggos, science, even ones that teach random acts of kindness, and swimming. The summer camp is great too. My daughter went for two summers. It's pricey, but 100% worth it!

The teachers are very helpful and keep in contact. I've never had an easier time communicating with my son's teachers. The school really emphasizes responsibility and accountability. The after school care is also very nice. They have many different clubs that your child can sign up for ranging from computer club to cooking club. Another little bonus is the school is always clean and well landscaped. If you are looking for an elementary school you would like to be near this is the one!

The teachers and staff have always been incredibly supportive and encouraging for both student and parents. It's a small goldfish bowl atmosphere which is what my husband and I wanted at this stage of our children's' lives. When you show up for school events everyone knows one another and there's a sense of family. The curriculum is challenging and every year my children are reading at least three grade levels above their current grade. A class period excursion around downtown Charleston for a history lesson or off to see a play at Dock Street Theater are just some of the incredibly brilliant uses CDS employs in regards to their proximity to the historical significance of our city. Lastly, you won't find a better Spanish teacher anywhere in the state as rigorous and as encouraging as Senior Catlett.
