Therapist was fine but i was entirely put off by their assertiveness on collecting payment, AND by how antiquated and unsecure their payment strategy is. Regarding the latter, they want credit card info typed into a PDF and emailed; there are dozens of secure invoicing and payment options out there but seems like THEY want the actual CC numbers despite how unadvisable that is anymore. I had to cancel on a same day appointment for a legit reason, and they charged full payment hours before the appointment was scheduled. Its like they're giddy to make a free buck. After I paid for a different session both me and my partner were still contacted multiple times about payment. It seems like there's a complete absence of any system of billing, tracking payment, etc. Similar to another reviewer, we paid $180, with a hard stop at 45 minutes. We stopped going, mostly due to the odd vibe of the place when it came to money. I understand it's a business, but maybe go about it in a way that feels like clients' well-being is also a goal. Check (former) employee reviews on Glassdoor for some of their perspectives about the place. Wish I had seen those prior. Aligns with my experience on the assertive money-making vibe of the place. I had a few sessions with Alyssa Lapp and she was by far the WORST THERAPIST I have ever had. I can't believe she even has a license and is working as a therapist. She can't hide her own thoughts in her facial expressions -- which seems like something a trained therapist would know how to do. I said something political in a session that must have offended her point of view because her face changed instantly. In the subsequent sessions, when I asked for her advice, she would simply say, "It's whatever you think." Over and over. I told her I really wanted her professional opinion, but I still got nothing more out of her. I did not schedule with her again. I still want a refund! :) Luckily, I now have a fantastic therapist whom I trust and who gives great advice for me to try out. I'm very happy I dropped Alyssa. My guess is that if you're a young, cute white woman, you will click just fine with her, but not if you fall into any other categories. read more

Do not use!! After my initial appointment, I made a follow up appointment with the therapist. I had a scheduling conflict come up and had to cancel. I called the office within their 48 cancelation policy, however, I have been emailed and called numerous times telling me I owe money for missing the appointment. I have explained to them multiple times why I don't owe but continue to be harassed. I am very disappointed at the way they attempted to take advantage of vulnerable people. People seek out help and get treated horribly. read more

This is a money making machine, not a practice that is invested in its patients and their outcomes and mental health. They charge outrageous fees ($160/session), refuse to deal with health insurance companies and their sessions are only 45 min long. They do not treat their practitioners well and instead put all their money into marketing so they show up at the top of your google search. They are shamelessly inflexible about scheduling matters. I called in 24hrs ahead to cancel an appointment as my child was sick (In the midst of the Omicron surge) They refused to provide any grace and said I would be charged $160 nonetheless. They unilaterally decided the session would be moved to online and that I would still be charged the same price. I also requested early on in the process that they email me a bill after each session so I could submit it to my insurance. They systematically fail to do so unless I call or walk into the office to make the request. Do not waste your time here, there are much better and experienced counselors in Fort Collins that take insurance and will see you for an hour and will not charge such outrageous rates, including for completely inexperienced counselors that are more or less fresh out of school. Their online advertising is predatory in nature and targets families that are in acute crisis and in need of immediate help. Go elsewhere. read more

I enjoyed my first meeting at Foundations Counseling. The first appointment (consultation is free) went well. We filled out paper work and got a free session of conseling with a professional. Scheduling is convenient for me and my significant other. I rescheduled because of my satisfaction for the therapist and the place overall. The receptionist was very kind and the entire experience was smooth and uncomplicated. We even had some homework to do before the next meeting. Super satisfied, recommend for anyone needing some extra help with coping and working together as a unit with your significant other. read more

The office staff and at least one of the counselors at Foundations Counseling misrepresented whether their counseling services would be covered by an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). They did not do due diligence by explaining that they only work with certain EAPs, and they failed to mention that the largest employer in town's EAP was not one with which they were affiliated. They also did not relay whether they were an "in-network" provider for our insurance, but instead gave assurances that all we would have to do would be to submit their billing statement and insurance would cover it from there. They mislead us into thinking that appointments would "be covered" when they are, in fact, not. After speaking with the owner of the company about being mislead, he was apologetic, but didn't offer any redress. Interestingly, when calling to make an initial appointment, the turnaround time for a call back was within 24 hours. However, when calling to check on billing issues, our voice mails went unanswered for several weeks by both the billing person and the counselor. I will give the owner of the company credit, that when this complaint was left for him, he responded promptly. The billing person was inconsiderate and downright rude on the phone, literally laughing at me. The counselor pointed to the billing person as the problem, and the billing person pointed right back at the counselor as the problem. In the end, we're out a lot of money, and MUCH worse off than when we started the counseling because of the added stress this has caused. It may have tipped the balance of an already precarious situation, and for that alone I would recommend that people seek a more professionally run organization or individual counselor. read more

I've been seeing Hannah Dorsher on almost a weekly basis since last April and have been able to make huge improvements in my life with her help! It was worth every session. The staff is very kind at foundations and I always feel welcomed and comfortable. Rescheduling is fairly easy and check-in is a breeze every visit. Would recommend checking it out. read more

Kyle is our new couples' therapist and besides giving us great tools to continue to thrive as a couple he is a very comfortable person to talk to and be around. My boyfriend and I were having growing pains and wanted to be proactive with our communication and learn some ways to navigate each other more effectively. I've been seeing Phil Hartwick, which they just assigned me to when I first called looking for help, and he is EXACTLY who I needed to see. He has given me homework and skills to practice for each week which is much more than other therapists I've seen who just want to talk and hash out my problems. This place is a total scam! We started out with a great therapists however she decided to leave because she felt Foundations themselves were being unethical. We were not allowed to contact her once she left due to a non-compete clause, which was very upsetting for our 4 year old daughter who had been seeing her. In addition they have mis-billed and over-billed us numerous times. We have actually had to get an attorney involved to get them to stop charging our bank account. In addition their billing department and front office staff is completely unprofessional and down right rude. Do NOT go here. Save yourself the headache and stress. read more

Honestly was super pleased with my experience here at first, I found a great counselor and I had been seeing her for a little over a year and had established a fantastic relationship, however, the company went through some changes (and I understand - things happen and certain shifts need to take place) and as a result my therapist was laid off and the company did not disclose to me why nor tell me what had happened until a day before my appointment at which point they placed me with a new counselor that I did not vibe with at all. I ended up discontinuing my counseling sessions (which I really need) and did not find a new practice until MONTHS later. Come to find out my old counselor works for the company I am now using and when I inquired about possibly seeing her again I was told that she could not see me due to her former place of employment making her sign a contract stating that seeing old clients would result in being sued for $24,000+. Therapy is supposed to be a safe place where you forge a connection with someone to help talk you through life's certain scenarios, being told that I cannot see someone because this place was afraid of losing business upsets me to no end. Truth be told they probably lost the same amount of clients they would have anyways because people loved my therapist, she was genuinely one of the best counselors I have ever seen and helped me through a lot of things. Would rate foundations counseling with negative stars if I could, so disappointed in a place that should be dedicated to helping people find themselves and is instead crushing souls. read more

I was very happy and hopeful at first. Our therapist was really helping my husband and I when she thought he had bipolar disorder, but not even a full day after he was diagnosed with BPD she called me and told me that she was dumping us because she thought we were going to get a divorce and she didn't want us to testify that she didn't help us more in therapy. Seriously? If she couldn't handle someone with BPD she could have just said that, but to accuse us of getting a divorce and blaming her is just selfish and wicked. read more
