Dr. Lai is a great listener and writes down everything mentioned during your talks. He gives off a no judgement face & attitude and makes you feel more comfortable while you mention any issues you may have. He's young so he's more in tune with modern day thinking. He's quick and isn't ashamed of searching up information on his computer in front of you and search together on the topic discussed. It shows that he's not a know-it-all and that doctors aren't encyclopedias. I really like how he talks and makes sure that if we have any problems with his actions or words to let him know so he can grow and work on himself to be the best doctor for his clients. His clinic offers a lot of other help: chiropractor, foot clinic, physiotherapy, dietitian & nutrition counselling, weight loss help, psychotherapy, behaviour analyst etc. They speak: English, French, Cantonese, Mandarin & Korean (depending on the person). I highly recommend Kevin Lai as your family doctor if you are looking for someone new or just a quick walk-in. Be sure to check this clinic out!

I could even walk to his office (which, by the way, has moved since this listing). Warning bells should have gone off when I noticed how full his waiting room was. Every time I ever went there, I had to wait at least 45 minutes and rarely did I ever get more than 5 minutes with him. He was my family Dr. for my first pregnancy, and he told me women who had homebirths were crazy and of course I would want an epidural because I am an anxious person (I don't know what made him think that as I have never been clinically diagnosed with anxiety issues). I went on to have a home birth (which I never told him about, since he was very anti-home birth and anti-midwife). The last straw for me was when I booked a physical with him, but was really sick. I showed up in the hopes he could treat me instead of doing the physical. He said, "Oh, I guess you're too sick for the physical," and sent me home (after asking if I could get home on my own). I had to go to a walk-in clinic later on, where they diagnosed me with bronchitis and asthma (which I have had on and off since childhood). They were totally shocked this Dr. didn't check me out or prescribe medication for me when I was so sick.

Dr Pinto is a horrible and negligent doctor. His staff is rude and unprofessional. This doctor…read moredoesnt think it necessary to wear gloves while drawing blood from patients. He drew blood with his bare hands. His staff of receptionists would probably not get a job anywhere else and this doctor is actually complicit with them in harassing patients. Why is this guy still allowed to practice is a mystery

FInding a family doctor is hard, so when I moved downtown 10 years ago, I discovered that I couldn't find a family doctor, but I could be assigned to a Nurse Practitioner at WCH Family Practice. For those reluctant to opt for a Nurse Practitioner, I can tell you from my experience, it is better than a family doctor. Anything they can handle on their own is done quickly because you can see them sooner than the overbooked doctors, and when there is something they can't handle, it is referred to a doctor in the clinic or a specialist, so it is the best of both worlds. My Nurse practitioner retired last year and I ended up becoming a patient of one of the doctors in the clinic, and while she is a great doctor, WCH is a teaching hospital, so she is only in the clinic twice a week, so appointments are hard to get. However, WCH family practice offers urgent care appointments in the evenings, so if a doctor can't see you that day, you can see one in the evening, instead of going to a walk in clinic or emergency. The clinic is very accessible, something I appreciated after my knee surgery.
