[] In Brief [] Good Guy Bilal takes care of what ails me…read more [] In Length [] Most people aren't about to make a decision on a new physician based on reviews from a stranger. It's not the same thing as a restaurant, or a store. The search for a family physician begins closer to home. Your family members or friends are the ones whose opinion you value the most. Not some random Yelper (even if the random Yelper is amazing). But still, I figure I should take the time to mention that Dr. Bilal is kind, and always smiling. He takes his time with me, and he's not in a rush when interacting with me. But what works for me may not work for you. I go to the doctor once a year, and that's usually only because it's required of me if I wish to receive maximal benefits from my employer. Also, any medical issues I may have seem to vanish as soon as I start eating healthy and exercising. I am an "easy" patient (at least for now; this will change as I age, I'm sure). Finding a doctor that meets my (less than) stringent requirements is likely to be different than finding a doctor that meets your stringent requirements. So caveat lector and all that. He took a good 20 minutes to sit and talk with me. You're lucky if you get that kind of face time with any physician nowadays. Most recently, he implied that I needed to lose weight, but he did so in the nicest way imaginable so I'm not even mad. At times, I felt like I was speaking more to a D.O. than a M.D. because of his holistic approach to my care. The only negative I can maybe think of is that time flies quickly when you're in his office. More often than not, you'll be waiting a while before seeing Dr. Bilal. His clinic is shared with 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6) other medical practitioners, and it's always busy in there. And seeing as how he takes his time with me, I'm assuming he takes his time with his other patients as well, leading to the predictable delays. If you were to give Dr. Bilal a shot, I think you will be pleased at how knowledgeable, caring, and pleasant he is, not only as a physician, but as a person. But you may not be able to give him a shot. Because he's probably not taking new patients (my cousin tried recently and was denied). When that changes (and it will) and he is taking new patients, you may want to get in on it quickly. Or better yet, go with whomever your mother recommends, because your mother's opinion always trumps mine.
