I live in the US. I wanted to take advantage of the favorable exchange rate when shopping for my…read morenext car. A phone call with the salesman Roger led to a series of e-mails about a car. A partial payment held the car until I could get from Seattle to Victoria. Roger picked me up at the Clipper terminal, arranged for the car to have a full tank of gas and detailed. After an extended drive, he sat me down to explain what vehicle history information was available. Specifically the advantages and differences between CarFax and a CarProof vehicle history reports. (As a US citizen you want both when buying a car in Canada.) Included in the negotiated purchase price, Roger provided all the documentation necessary so I could drive the car across the border the same day. He even contacted the Washington State Department of Licensing to ensure all the paperwork to register it here in the US is prepared properly. (I'll update this review when I get the car registered in Washington State.) Greg, their finance manager, walked me through the sales process. He clearly laid out what paperwork is required to show proof of sale, transfer of ownership, and temporary BC insurance and registration. My friend, who purchased a car several months prior, commented that this process was simple, straightforward and hassle free. The dealership is transparent, honest and open. Crossing the border was a breeze. The documentation worked flawlessly. US Customs and Border Protection inspected the vehicle and documentation. I was at the border crossing for about 30 minutes. If/when I'm in the market for another car, Victoria Premium Auto will get a look should the exchange still be in the US's favor.

He took the time to thoroughly explain the details of the Audi e-tron and walked me through my trade-in options. Amir was extremely helpful in guiding me toward the best choice for upgrading to a newer vehicle while ensuring I received fair value for my current car. The entire experience was smooth, efficient, and stress-free. I would highly recommend keeping an eye on their inventory if you're in the market for a vehicle.

I have really been debating whether I should even do this review. In giving things further thought,…read moreeven though our visit was back in August, I really think it's time to share my experience with the world, My friend and I headed down to Jim Pattison Toyota in Victoria from Ladysmith on a Sunday to take a look at a 2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid van they advertised on their website. These are not the easiest vehicle to find on a dealer lot. When we got to the dealership, we were greeted by the salesman Mo. He immediately told us that the Sienna wasn't present on the lot, that a manager had signed it out for the weekend and it was somewhere in Duncan. This did not exactly work wonders for my confidence in this dealership. As I was really interested in this vehicle, I thought we should go ahead and proceed to start doing some of the paperwork. I was trading in a 2011 Toyota Sienna with 300,000 kilometers. Yes, it is old and yes it is high mileage, but it is a very strong vehicle. And it is a Toyota. The sales manager initially offered me $2000 as a trade in on this vehicle. I told him this was not acceptable. The sales manager then sent the appraiser out to look at it. He immediately proceeded to nitpick every last little thing that he could find about it. He told me in so many words that my front tire was bald and my vehicle was unsafe. This is not something that you say to a professional courier who uses a vehicle as his daily driver. There was a little chalking on the outside of the tire, which is normal for a vehicle which constantly does tight turns, but at the time was certainly was not bald (please see attached photo). The tire shop in Ladysmith had a really good laugh when I told them what this guy had said. I proceeded to point out to this appraiser that at the time there were 26 other 2011 Toyota Siennas on sale across Canada on Autotrader, ranging in price from $6000 to $17,000. It wasn't very long until the sales manager came back with a revised offer of $5600 trade-in on my vehicle plus he knocked another $2000 off the purchase price of the 2021 Sienna. A very slight difference. I had to take some very major measures to get out from under the horrendous payment of the last vehicle I had. While I currently have a "good" credit rating, there are remarks on my credit report that might be challenging to get a car loan. I was very upfront with these people about that. They ran the numbers anyway. We headed out for a late lunch, and then went back to the dealership. As it was Sunday, and there was likely not going to be response back from the banks that day, my friend and I headed back home. Midweek the following week I went up to a dealership in Courtenay that had a somewhat newer Sienna for sale. The finance manager there spent over an hour and a half with me discussing my situation and the industry at large. He basically indicated to me that he didn't think it would be wise to even consider running the numbers with the banks. He indicated to me he might be able to get me into a non-bank loan for a monthly payment of about $1000. That would have been a worse payment than I had just gotten away from with the previous vehicle I financed. Now this was a dealership with actual integrity. Jim Pattison Toyota did none of the above. They just don't seem to be interested in dealing with subprime customers. They couldn't even show me the courtesy of giving me a quick phone call when my financing did not go through. At the end of the day, in spite of the impressive looking facility, this is just another car dealer. And Mo, in spite of him telling me that he's been in the industry for over 50 years, that he used to train sales people in California, and that he didn't like the way that these young people do business these days, is really just another car salesman. They're your best friend as long as they think they are going to make money off of you. As soon as they don't see that forthcoming, they drop you like a hot potato. My advice to anybody considering doing business with these people is, do your homework beforehand. Have a good idea of what the vehicle you're looking at is truly worth. In all fairness, these people were actually good in that regard. Even more importantly, make sure that you have a good idea what your trade-in is worth in the real world. And above all, don't take anything they say as gospel. Take it all with several grains of salt. If what they're proposing doesn't work for you, walk away. I almost walked away three times that day.

All these OEM parts have a warranty or whatever, but every time they swap the warranty is shortened because you've had their crappy part in your vehicle for a few months, until eventually you're on the hook for the cost of the next "swap out", even though the problem has never been fixed. Total BS. When you plead for some help they just throw up their hands and say it's "Ford policy" and they can't do anything. Don't buy a car here, don't bring your car here for repair. Any small neighbourhood mechanic will terat you better by a mile.
