When we eat there the restaurant was fairly quiet but it was early in the evening, my favourite dish without a doubt was the crispy duck, I have never tasted duck that was this nice. Everyone I have spoken to raves about this place, I have never heard any bad reviews, quite the opposite everyone claims it is the best off they have ever tasted. This is perhaps why their takeaway option is so popular. Price wise I found it to be quite reasonable for the quality of food. The staff were very polite and accommodating, I would definitely recommend anyone that has not eaten here to give it a go.

I'm a creature of habit so I went for my usual (when I'm in Gloucestershire it's what we always have) which is a Special Curry and Special Fried Rice. My boyfriend went for something slightly more adventurous and had a Japanese Bento Box. The whole order came to around £25, which was fine as we had ordered enough food for over three people! My dishes were beautiful and utterly packed with bits, there was no scrimping on the meat and it was all pretty delicious. To my boyfriend's delight there was a lot of fish related items in my curry, which went straight on his plate as I'm not keen, and his Bento box was like a TV Dinner from the land of Plenty. He had a huge salad, breaded chicken slices, rice, little parcels of I-don't-know-what (devoured before I got a look in!) and a pot of Miso soup. I was full after about half of of my dishes, as the curry also came with chips, so was decidedly sensible and left it after that. Of course, my boyfriend continued to pick at the food for the next few hours and felt overly full afterward, but we were utterly satisfied. I like the sour and chilli number myself and then its name your meat of choice (or vegetable though don't be aggressive with that carrot) and then whatever delicious sauce or style you want. This isn't the most convenient Chinese takeaway for where I live so I had never thought to try it…read moreuntil my daughter asked me to. The menu is amazing. All the usual favourites are there but there is so much more. My particular favourite is the Mongolian Lamb curry but The Royale has also introduced me to frogs legs (something I swore I'd never eat) which were delicious. We now use the Royale when there are a lot of us eating as large orders don't seem to faze them, I normally pick up to save on delivery but there have been occasions when laziness happens and I have found the delivery to be very timely. I have noticed that the restaurant always seems empty (it doesn't help that it's so big) and I am now determined to do my bit to fill it as soon as I can by taking the family or friends (or even random friendly people) there for the all you can eat banquet.
