We took Mowgli, our 5 year old Catahoula to Shala, after she was recommended to us on two…read moredifferent occasions. Not knowing her at all, and only communicating briefly over messenger, it was definitely hard to leave our boy with a complete stranger. For context, we do not have kids, aside from him. Mowgli was reactive, protective, and dominant. We would never take him anywhere that we would encounter other dogs as he was very unpredictable. December 22nd, we dropped him off to her. She recommended a MINIMUM of 2 weeks, but after further discussion we ended up deciding to leave him with her until we were back from vacation, which would be a total of 5 weeks. Our first impression of Shala was a little intimidating, and she was very to the point, but she did warn us of this. (Only reason for mentioning this is I really hope this does not deter others from her, because once we got to know her, she is truly kind heated person!) She was very good about keeping us posted on Facebook with updated pictures, and letting us know how progress was going. She was very responsive, and helped put our minds at ease when we would have our doubts, and asking ourselves if we were doing the right thing. On January 27th, Shala came to our place, to drop off our dog, and to go over what types of changes would need to be made at home in order to maintain these new behaviours. She spent half a day with us showing us what he was doing, why he was doing it, how to correct it, when to give praise and so on. We ran into other dogs on the walk, and she showed us, in person, our once reactive dog interacting with others without any issue. Today I walk though little mountain, hoping to see people and dogs. Mowgli is so much more comfortable in his now skin, and his demeanor is way more relaxed. I will still message Shala for advice and she is quick to respond and help. We will without a doubt be sending our dog back out to Shala when ever we need boarding, day care, or even just for a day to get some socializing. I cannot say enough good things about her. She is stern and direct, but she has a big heart and is EXTREMELY knowledgable. Thank you so much Shala.

We had arranged to bring our pup here once a week, and the first time i brought him he "ran away"…read moreon the group walk around noon. I asked what happened and was shrugged off with a message saying that she was looking after 30 dogs and didn't have time to message, after he was found i returned that afternoon to pick him in at which time there was no apology the conversation was 15 minutes of me being told how our lack of training and treating our dog like a child instead of an animal was the issue. I returned the following weeks on a casual basis, I take my dog away with me on work contracts and advised the owner of this through the summer. We returned in July for a drop off, and my dog again "ran away". I asked why this keeps happening, and was advised "lack of consistency". At this point I was very upset. My dog was had multiple walkers and had gone to daycare before without any issue. I would be extremely careful bringing your family members here, unfortunately she's the only one in the area available, which is why i believe she is busy. There was never any accountability for not watching my dog closely enough to not lose him, twice. I recently messaged back again feeling stuck about having no other options and was advised after bringing our dog here for months, that we could be added back to the waiting list if we wanted services. At no point was there a discussion about us being dropped as clients. Absolutely awful customer service and interaction.

You can immediately tell that they do this 100% out of their love for cats & we didn't have a single worry after dropping them off. By January 08, having had no call-back, I initiated a call. Was booked to inspect this kennel the following day. This meant a half-hour drive to go to the viewing. On arrival near their facility, we could not locate it. I phoned again and was told they were shocked that I was in Salmon Arm as they were not expecting me. They then said that they could not accommodate me as they had an emergency. They did explain that it was one of their cats, I understood, but when I tried to at least nail down where they were, they briskly told me they were too busy. I explained that I had my own reasons that I was ticked, I understood their emergency, but would like to at least figure out where we would be heading for another day. They said they didn't have time, that it was "too bad" I was inconvenienced and ticked off, then they hung up on me. This facility might be nice-looking, but we will never know. It is almost impossible to locate, their booking procedures do not give you confidence that you will actually have a reservation you make, and there is no outward signage to indicate where they may be.

Absolutely disgusted with the owner. No customer service as to how she talks to customers at all…read more She called me and told me they would have to shave my dogs backside and under belly area as it was so matted and even had the audacity to ask me "has your dog ever been groomed." She then commented that if she knew how bad it was she never would have taken her?? They were 3.5 hours with my dog. There were dogs running around inside the grooming room. One would think that there would be a one-at-a-time policy but there isn't. I had an incredible service in Penticton with a gal (one girl) that groomed my dog. This groomer at Wet Spot advised it took 3 to groom my dog, and nicklel and dimed for services for taking mats out, extra large bath (my dog is 60 pounds), peed 5 times and poo'd 1 time and charged me for that. For my dog to urinate that much, she was STRESSSED. I will never take another dog there again. I will drive 4 hours to get the service in Penticton instead. When I showed her the pictures of the last groom and I told her that was her last time, as I commented that they didn't get the underfur out, she said, "your dog is overweight." This coming from a young lady that is oversized herself. I was absolutely stunned. What does weight have to do with the the fact that the underfur was not raked out. The fact that she needed allegedly 3 groomers to help her tells me this is not a place that is either trained, or they take way too many dogs in the allotted appointment time. Here's a thought, if you don't think that you can handle the job, just call the owner and politely decline that you are just too busy to take the work on, and that would have given us the chance to find a groomer that could take the process.
