Unsurprisingly an outdoor camp feel but well kept insides. The bathroom has 4 hand dryers. Wow for a rural area. Works great for last minute big groups. This center is near Lake Placid which has a USA Olympic Training Center. Another fully equipped rest area seems about 30 miles north. This explains a lot. Must be beautiful but isolating and serene here with the basics and minimal distractions. Also, not a lot of gas in mountainous Adirondacks and no gas at this rest area. I think I saw 1-3 stations on I-87 so far.

Owners Mark and Buffie are friendly and hardworking. Country store has some nice gifts as well as odds and ends. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Camp wood only allowed if bought at Brookwood, but prices in line w other local stores. Pleasantly surprised at how good this venue was. Large inground pool in the summer. 4.5 stars. BTW, upper 30's all three nights. My friend, Hopalong Casualty, spent part of the nights sleeping in his Nissan Rogue.

Can't do better than this on the East Coast unless you are in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Note - The North area was already on Yelp as I passed through, and I did not think to add the South area until returning home. It is there now, and my comments for the North are equally applicable for the South. I stopped both coming and going. It is in North Hudson, NY. Can't explain how Yelp got it as Manhattan??

Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 4 nights in a site for big rigs. Our site was green grass…read moreand wasn't level. All the sites located in the very front of the park were on grass by a pond, which meant no dust and not having to wash the coach or car after our stay. This park is located across the road from the lake which made for a beautiful view from our site. We were in the site closest to the front and the road, but traffic was minimal and we found it peaceful enough to sit outside and enjoy the sound of the pond frogs and the view. Too many large trees here for satellite reception. Almost the whole park (in the back) consists of long term residents but their sites were all clean and well kept. We enjoyed our stay but would have prefered staying in a level site.
