Good coffee. Good food. What more do you need?
Adam M.

Excellent coffee, awesome and friendly staff and a chilled, relaxing atmosphere. Fort is my coffee shop if choice. The roaster of choice for their beans is Cup Specialty Coffee, and I can't say enough good things about the House Blend they have created for Fort. Always delicious with milk. If you live in the North Lakes area, or simply passing through, pull in for a cup. You won't be disappointed.

I suspect it being a public holiday had nothing to do with this North Lakes cafe bustling with locals. In a man-made community of concrete and a burgeoning personality, Fort is a punch of character with good coffee. Pouring CleanSkin we stopped in for a quick take-away. There were customers at every table and a hefty line waiting for take-aways - don't stress - it moved quickly. For an area that's still developing and establishing itself, Fort is a cafe (and a flat white) I never thought I'd find here. Thankfully it looks like the locals support this specialty coffee house, too!

250g for $12.50. Or 1KG for $42 (with a free coffee). Their house blend is expensive...

The short: Great coffee and food, but their bean prices are astronomical. The long: I had to go to Fort to do an emergency bean run, when we were out of sequence with my regular Merlo runs. I was a bit staggered at the price per KG. $42 for the house blend. And unlike Merlo, you have to purchase a full KG to get complimentary coffee. I get it: these guys aren't wholesalers. But, dayum. $42... That aside, I was seriously coveting one if their black tees for $30. Not to mention their blokey sangers. And their per-cup coffees are good. Real good! Go here for a great cup of coffee and robust sangers!

The short: Affordable food for the family, with good kids options and huge coffees…read more The long: The whole family went down to the new North Lakes outlet after it was open for a week. I had The Star beef burger. Wife had the trio of sliders. Kids had Pizzas. The beef burger was excellent. Juicy, juicy patty and plenty of bacon. Bun was a little bit over toasted for me, but still edible. The chips that accompanied this dish were crispy and well-seasoned. The wife's sliders suffered from over-toasting as well. She wasn't all that impressed with the sliders, and suggested to me that perhaps Briosh buns would have fared better for these little bites. That aside, the three burgers had quite different tastes to them and were served with crisp, well-seasoned chips. The Kids had BBQ based pizzas: one ham and one chicken. I had to swap some chips out for a few slices of Pizza from my son, who managed to finish up one of these monsters. The chicken pizza was the winner over the ham. And unfortunately the bases were overcooked again. I reckon the grill/toaster was cranked up a bit high the day we visited. I passed on the feedback to the manager, who graciously accepted the feedback. It's early days for this outlet so I'll be back to try some more items out.
