We visited Cafe Pascal for a light Sunday brunch. The egg salad and prosciutto croissant was very…read moregood. The pain au chocolat was also excellent: crisp layers with just the right amount of dark chocolate. Coffee was smooth and rich, and refills on brewed coffee are free. The café has a relaxed vibe, and even though it was busy, the service was quick and friendly. Prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality. Recommend if you're looking for a great coffee and pastry spot, convenient to city center. Outdoor seating if you're lucky enough to land a spot. If not, there's a nice park across the way, if you order take away.

Although the passageway where the interior seating is situated seemed awkward it actually worked out well. Service, despite a crowd, was fairly quick, I would rate the coffee an A or 9/10 on the scale of strength, low acidity/smoothness. It is espresso based and made to exact order. There are serval options for milk (whole, oat, 1/2 and 1/2, etc). The major complaint would be that there is no easy place to throw away your rubbish, nor is there a place that is clearly evident to bust your dishes, which is much needed given that this is a super busy place.. The staff is too busy to bus tables regularly, which backs up the availability of seating . This is the major reason for a one star deduction.. TIP: You can buy beans or ground coffee for home brewing.

Sweet Carolina, Bump, Bump, Bump, Good Times Never Seemed So Good…read more... Nothing can be finer than to get served by Carolina in the evening! Well, I took liberties with that old song and my apologies to Neil Diamond but in Basilico make sure your server is Carolina and you will "get my drift." She adds real personality to a terrific restaurant. We were just walking around and entered because the restaurant's bottom floor appeared quaint and full of regulars. We presumed they made delicious Italian food and we presumed correct. There were no English menus (this is never a turn off for us) but immediately Carolina said if we took a seat she would help us. We took a really nice window seat for two, had a glass of wine and Carolina pulled up a chair and basically acted like a little sister who has happy to familiarize you with a small town she had recently moved to. Anyway, we ordered bruschetta, ok I was surprised that there was but one piece, but it was excellent! We also had the Delizie di Mare and Maiale con Gorgonzola. The portions were large and both were expertly prepared. When we left we were stuffed, happy, and felt we had made a friend. It is rare that I choose an Italian restaurant outside of Italy but I highly recommend Basilico. It is a quaint, friendly, authentic Italian restaurant that serves up excellent food. Thanks for your help Carolina!

I'm not sure if Basilico is family-run... but it certainly has that feel. I've tried both one of the fish dishes (Salmone al Forno) as well as one of their pizzas (Prosciutto), and have enjoyed my food immensely each time. The prices are what I would call fair (in 2012: SEK 125-169 for pasta dishes; SEK 159-259 for entrées; SEK 95-124 for a 'classic' pizza, up to SEK 149 for one of their own creations) and the service is friendly. And don't forget to try their tiramisu. To die for!
