Heading east out of Dallas on US-80, you'll be welcomed to Forney by this eight foot tall replica of the famous Statue of Liberty. Made of painted case aluminum and standing on a concrete base that is six feet tall, the book in her hand is identical to that of the State of Liberty in New York with the raised inscription reading "JULY/IV/MDCCLXXVI". This replica was created by Richard "Red" Whaley of Little Red's Antiques in Forney.
It was installed in this small "park" in 1986 and updated in 2019 to showcase the statue, which has lighting at night though it's a weird spot on the highway. I would use extreme caution stopping here to photograph the statue.
I've seen a number of Statue of Liberty replicas across the US and near the Musée Bartholdi in Colmar France. This one is nice. I'm a fan.
