Went there today for lunch....a Michelin starred restaurant with a 15E lunch special, so we had to try it out. Lots of businessmen and ladies who lunch. The ambiance and service were superb. Deciphering the 2 course meal (water and bread included) was a bit confusing, even for the table of Italians next to us. The menu says it's your choice but the waitress told us it was a choice of 3 antipasti/primo piatti, plus 2 secondi piatti from the chef. Of the 5, you choose 2. We had the fennel soup with polpettine, beautifully presented but a bit under-seasoned. Our main courses were the baby pig tenderloin, sliced and cooked with a light tomato/herb sauce and potato. Nicely done, tender, moist, and very flavorful. We had 2 glasses of wine (at 6E a glass), which the waitress very kindly poured for us from a wine list that doesn't mention by the glass. We did have an unfortunate incident, however, during the first course when my dining partner found a huge and dangerous shard (about 1" long) of the edge of the bowl in his soup, which he had to take out of his mouth before he could have swallowed it. It was at the bottom, so obviously chipped by the chef when he ladled the soup into the bowl. Had he not noticed, it might have been a disastrous lunch for everyone (and he's an attorney with many attorney cousins in Italy.) Kudos to the owner, who was called over and notified of this event. She appropriately apologized, said she was mortified, and we could hear her chewing out the chef in the kitchen. Not something you expect at a Michelin restaurant. They also comped his meal, which was a good olive branch, but the should have comped his entire meal. read more
