I started at Forge when it was in a garage 4 years ago. It's been almost 4 years since I joined the Forge team. I will never forget the day that I walked in the gym to meet Chancellor. I was extremely intimidated as this was not anything that I had ever done before. Chancellor, greeted me at the door, asked me what my goals were, at that point I just wanted to get in shape with no intention of lifting heavy. He was very welcoming and made me feel so comfortable as a newbie to lifting weights. Fast forward 4 years, at the age of 51, I am stronger and in the best shape of my life thanks to the Forge team. I worked w/ Dr Mike in 2020 and 2021 in the SF Bay Area as well as remotely when he relocated to back to home state and Sheridan and opened Forget Physio. What makes Mike so special is his commitment to developing a plan to not just heal an injury but also prevent its recurrence especially if it is bio-mechanical like mine and a product of years of exercise and wear. In addition to his PT training and education, Mike has a strength and conditioning certificate which is required for an NFL trainer. I had Post Tibialis tendonitis (ankle tendon issues) for over a decade and had to give up a bunch of sports. I saw multiple podiatrists and physical therapists and PT companies and kept having one or both of my ankle tendons blow up and have to go on crutches for weeks. Dr. Mike is as skilled and knowledgeable in his field as he is a great individual. He built a rehab and strengthening program for me and over a few months, I was able to put the problem not just behind me but regain tremendous mobility in my ankles, start playing tennis and running again for exercise. At Mike's direction I also stopped wearing doctor-prescribed orthotics I had worn for a decade that were integrally contributing to to the problem. COVID-19 has certainly thrown a wrench in everything, including working out.  I injured my left shoulder following "home WODs (work out of the day)" published online from my gym.  I definitely am someone who needs to be supervised when attempting HIIT workouts!  My shoulder pain was making it difficult to put a shirt or jacket on, put my backpack on my back, and even was waking me up at night when I would turn to lie on my left side.  I had used other PTs before - with mixed results.  Luckily I found Dr. Mike with Forge Physio and Performance and it was exactly what I needed. Dr. Mike is also a crossfit coach so he knew exactly what I was talking about when I described how I injured myself and where I was having pain/movement impairment.  In less than a month, Dr. Mike had my shoulder pain ELIMINATED!  I have continued to work with him to return the strength lost on my left side and he is even programming my strength towards my first ever pull up and return to my pre-injury ability for standard push ups.  He is prompt with posting my assigned exercises with video instruction and has been very responsive by text and email when I have questions.  He also was very intentional about my programming to accommodate basic to no equipment when I had to travel.  I am a physician and I have to admit that I am blown away by how quickly Dr. Mike got my pain to go away (without having to use medications!), and as a casual crossfitter, I'm blown away at how quickly he has retrained by strength.  Very kind, very knowledgeable, and very diligent with safety during COVID19.  I'm actually sad that my sessions are almost over, but really feel confident in my recovery and ability to continue to participate in the fitness activities that I enjoy.  I hope I don't injure myself again, but if I do, I will not even waste time and would go back to work with Mike at Forge Physio and Performance. read more

I went to Forge and Dr. Michael after years of getting weaker due to scoliosis and being told I need to limit myself and if it hurt that I should not do it. Well, at some point that turned into not being able to do daily functions like carrying laundry baskets and gardening. I was 48, in what my doctor said good shape working out with cardio 4 times a week and a normal weight, but it was scary to think that it was only going to get worse. Anyway, I am amazed by what they have done for me in a short time. In 7 months of working with Michael I am in the best physical condition of my life. My back is not perfect and may never be 100%, but I can do daily things without wondering if I will be in pain for days. I would recommend any of the trainers. I decided to try PT after aggravating an old lower back injury while traveling - I was in so much pain that walking was difficult and the thought of lifting weights (deadlifting in particular) or doing any CrossFit (my preferred training) was unfathomable. I found Dr. Mike through Yelp, and was initially impressed with how responsive, helpful and attuned to my needs the intake process was. The quality of care and professionalism continued through my treatment with Mike, where he took me through a thorough and eye-opening assessment that highlighted some weaknesses and imbalances that I was unaware of. It became apparent that my old injury hadn't "healed"; the acute symptoms had merely subsided, and by exclusively taking it easy and focusing on movements that didn't aggravate my injury, I was not addressing the underlying issues and remained vulnerable to reinjury. Mike programmed a well-integrated and highly personalized protocol that attacked my mobility and stability issues from various angles and we hit it with a heavy dose. Over the course of working together, we discovered some additional weaknesses that I hadn't been aware of and Mike incorporated those into my protocol. I greatly appreciated this attention to detail and believe it will go a long way in keeping me safe, healthy and strong in movements that I felt "strong" in before, but may have been just a matter of time before I would have sustained a new injury had I not put in the work with Mike. We had two in-person visits before the shelter in place order took effect and at my request, I had some remote visits with Mike, which were more effective than I expected. For those potential clients who may feel uncomfortable doing in-person visits, I can recommend remote consultations - while not a perfect substitute, they were very helpful and effective. At this point, I feel so much more confident that I can get under the barbell again, and if you had asked me three months ago, I would have been uncertain whether I would ever lift again or if I would just be resigned to bodyweight movements and cardio. I couldn't recommend Dr. Mike more - he is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and they genuinely listen to their client's needs, limitations, and goals and design the care around those. read more
