A no nonsense Krav Maga, Israeli style. Crazy drills, super nice instructors and very pleasant people to spar with. Highly recommend.

If I'm a 1st time beginner and have no experience, what's a good introductory class?

When is the studio re-opening back up?

Hi Stef! Thank you for your interest in training with Tactica SF! We currently offer an outdoor Krav Maga class and we are finalizing logistics to re-open SF for indoor classes, hopefully in June. Please feel free to email info@tactica.training with…

You leave tired, but energized -- with that feeling that the hardest part of your day is already over, and you're ready to handle whatever comes next. I recently upgraded to three days a week, and honestly, I wish I had started sooner. My strength has improved, my cardiovascular fitness is noticeably better, and my back pain is gone. Most importantly, I can play with my three-year-old son without worrying about not being able to keep up with him. That alone has been huge. My advice: start with at least two days a week and stick with it long enough to see the gains. You will. Punch King is tough, but it works -- and you won't regret it.

I've been coming here for years, and it's hands down one of the best workouts I've ever had. Every class is an hour, but they pack in cardio, strength training, and three rounds of boxing, so you leave feeling like you got an incredible full-body workout. King will definitely push you in the best way! What I love most is that the workouts are different every day. You're constantly working different muscle groups! Even ones you didn't know could be sore. It never gets boring, and you always leave feeling stronger.

So sad to hear this location has closed! I took a class with Mark I. and had a blast. The vibes and…read moremusic were high and the whole class was super engaged and friendly. The facilities here were also top-notch: super clean, with plenty of lockers and shared amenities. Such a loss, since the Marina is such a great location for a studio!

As an advanced level group fitness fanatic, I've checked out many different workouts and studios,…read moreso I consider myself experienced enough to soundly critique them. Rumble is similar to Barry's Bootcamp, but uses boxing bags instead of treadmills. There are also a few other key differences: WORKOUT Pros: -Alongside an inspiring instructor, Rumble also uses a projector to display the current moves and combos onto the wall, which is SUPER helpful. -The boxing gloves (available to rent) are cute. Cons: -Overall, the workout was not as intense as Barry's Bootcamp, so I didn't feel it was as nearly as good of a workout. (But you may consider this a good thing if you don't want an intense workout.) -Their full body workout hardly worked out legs at all aside from some squats. (The bags are for punching only, no kicks involved.) -At the bags, you only work out from one side of your body (like if you're right-handed, your left foot is constantly forward), which is incredibly unbalanced and bad for your alignment in the long run. So if you want to balance your muscles, it's completely up to you to keep count and remember when to switch sides. -Their wraps must have been too short because my knuckles still grated with each punch. Also, the uppercut punches still hurt my wrists despite the wraps and gloves. AMENITIES Pros: -Similar to Barry's, full amenities are offered. There is towel service, plastic bags for wet clothes, and water fountains and bottle refill stations. The ladies' locker room has hair ties, dry shampoo, hairdryers, and lotion. The showers are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Cons: The locker rooms could use more space around the sinks and just in general. Barry's locker rooms are bigger and have nicer toiletries. CONCLUSION All in all, I found more cons than pros here, personally. Given the price of Rumble vs Barry's Bootcamp is roughly the same, I'd rather spend my money at Barry's, which tends to be a little bit more upscale in amenities and a tougher workout. However, because Rumble is a lighter workout than Barry's, that also means it's less intimidating for those new to this style of circuit training. It's also fine if you like the boxing concept.

Classes are well run and open to all levels, from beginners to experienced fighters. The atmosphere is welcoming, focused, and respectful. I've trained with Kru Sam for over 20 years. He has proven to be one of the best Muay Thai trainers in the world. Over the last 25 years, he has developed multiple world champions and helped launch the careers of some of San Francisco's top Muay Thai and MMA fighters. His teaching is clear, technical, and patient. He gives the same attention to new students as he does to seasoned fighters. He also hosts fight events, giving his students real opportunities to compete. This gym has a strong and supportive community. Everyone trains hard and looks out for one another. The coaches are skilled, personable, and really love to see when you're improving. The other students are welcoming and all putting in their best effort to better themselves all for various reasons, and if you're doing the same, you're gonna make some solid friendships here. Kru Sam is actually from Thailand and knows the traditions of the art and still goes back himself or sends students there regularly to train, which may be part of why he's trained so many champions.
