We were incredibly pleased with how lovely the place is. Great outdoor dining area, and incredibly cosy inside. The staff were incredibly courteous, and the food was just unbelievably good. I'll admit, when I first ordered, I did think that they were a little expensive. However, it turns out that was because I was expecting the food to be of a lower standard. What they brought out to us was worth every penny. This is a fantastic little place, a hidden gem. Worth driving over an hour to go to, seriously.

There were 14 of us and they managed to fit us into the restaurant area on the proviso we ordered quickly before the 6:30pm booking arrived and one table had to vacate by 8pm. The staff were great and we did not feel that we were being rushed even though some people had starters. A lot of us picked from the specials board and the food came out devine and the service was outstanding. The place was busy as it was the jazz/fringe festival weekend so the clientelle was of all ages (a bit annoying having babies/kids screaming thoughout the meal) including elderly who came in through the fire door for easy access. I would definitely recommend this place which is also dog friendly. This place is soo good that Seasick Steve was playing there that evening and eating his dinner in the pub part as we left.

The bar staff are friendly with regulars chatting to the staff. The pub was packed on a Saturday afternoon, but we managed to find a nice spot reading the weekend papers. There is a courtyard here - perfect for the warmer weather and a restaurant towards the back of the pub. This pub has a very relaxed feel about, and as a result is homely. Added bonus is they have a open log fire too - a real winner in my book!

The young lady was so helpful but said there would be a wait of about 90 minutes. No problem to us as we then able to have a couple of drinks before hand. So, a TIP. This pub is brilliant so nearly always full. BOOK A TABLE. A few people turned up after us but were told they couldn't be seated. We were so lucky. The food was out of this world with pricing more down to earth. Service could not be beaten by a wonderful staff of young ladies who, luckily for us, had a great sense of humour. They needed it serving us. Lovely pub with an unusual interior décor which went with the area. A really good wine choice for such a small place. Normally it's red, white or rose. Now to knock a member of management. The board showed two dessert wines, which I love. The patriarch was running the bar when I was about, and the conversation was pleasant and warm and the beer was cold. The multiple fireplaces, exposed beams and leather couches gave me a sense that besides eating, it would be a great place to pass some time with a friend or in thought.
