He said it was tender, moist and flavorful. And it was too big to finish. It was very clean and accessible friendly. Got to love a bar with clean bathrooms! The chili was almost all ground beef so it was very filling, not spicy at all. Everything was very fresh on the salad. My husband ordered the steak wrap, unfortunately the portion of steak was incredibly small, but he did enjoy the flavor and once he added some blue cheese dressing was satisfied with his wrap. The fries are very tasty. There are no prices on the drink menu but wine is $6.50 a glass of beer was four dollars Service was excellent and food came out quickly Total bill was $35 before tip. My review is based on 3 separate visits to & from Minnesota. My wife & I are both Scandinavian so of course we loved the Viking/Nordic theme with tall ceilings & a large Fireplace. We have ordered the Skol classic Breakfast/ Brisket Melt w Mac & Cheese & multiple times the Breakfast Tot - Chos ( Heaping plate of tots covered w Gravy, Cheese & Eggs ) Everything has always been very good & served quite quickly. My only complaint is that you have to go get your own refreshments & when done eating you have to go stand in line at the cash register to pay your bill. But other than that we very much enjoyed all 3 visits to the Skol Tavern & we will absolutely return again.

We were driving from Des Moines to Minneapolis and decided to hop off the beaten path to Lake Mills. A great little town! We each had a side salad with thousand island dressing. Typical diner-style salad of romaine lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions. Fine, but nothing to write home about. Then we split the burger and fires. We went with the burger on a pretzel bun (I always think they will be better than a regular bun, but should just get the regular. Nothing wrong with this one--nice and fresh, just never what I think they will be.). Anyway, the burger was fantastic and the fries were crispy, not greasy, and a generous portion. The menu was quite diverse and we will make this trip again to check out more options. It's worth a stop just to be in the old bank building and to take a walk down Main Street!
