Dr. Nguyen (both of them) are excellent. The staff is sweet and they even go as far as showing you the entire facility on your first visit. It's easy to tell that this is a family business and everyone there seems to know to treat the patients as such. I was there for a cleaning on Lunar New Year Dr. Mai was giving all her patients good luck red envelopes with crisp $2 bills, a practice I hear is really reserved for family. I've made them my primary dentists since moving to this side of town and have no issues. They've even seen me on short notice after needing to change my appointment. What's best is they accept my insurance (Delta Dental). Dr. Mai even threw in an orthopedic consult on one of my visits. I also love that they text you reminders of your appointments. I'd recommend coming here if you are in search of a great dentist with a personal touch. read more

There's not enough bad things I can say about such a racist practice. Majority of staff is Asian and the amount of side eyes, looking at me and looking away while saying something under their breath in their language is crazy! Got a quote for wisdom teeth and wanted a quote for Invisalign and after weeks of waiting I called just to be on hold for over 5 minutes and told I have to come in for a consultation when, I WAS ALREADY THERE FOR ONE! Do not go here if you have insurance. They lie to you about being in network. I have an email where the billing person called me right before my appt to confirm my insurance and I ask, are you in network? She responds you are good to go. Then months later when the EOB arrives from the insurance and they are out of network. When I asked she said they are no longer in network, somehow they went out of network on my 5 Minute drive over. Before I knew that they were out of network, I went to have three of my son's teeth pulled, they have given him a sedative and then the lady at the front gave me an estimate which did not make sense to our coverage, which is 90% on non-preventative dental work, I pushed back and told her I was calling the insurance to confirm, she said hold on and came back with a reduced estimate, pretending that she had corrected it for insurance but when I got the invoice at the end it did not make sense. My husband had work done a few weeks before and when I reviewed his invoice it was again billed incorrectly so they could charge him out of pocket costs. They charged us $1000 that if we went to an honest dentist, we would not have paid. They get one star because everyone is very nice and they did a nice job on our teeth but perhaps that is so that they can sweet talk you into getting scammed. Unless you want to pay out of pocket, do not go here. read more

This is my new go to dental office! I LOVE that you can schedule by text message & everyone was super friendly. My hygienist Chaeyong was more than fantastic and informative and so was the Dentist himself. I tried Mint before and the service was beyond terrible, while their office is "pretty & upgraded" I can't handle rude dentist and bad customer service. at Forestwood Dental it may not look as fancy, but they are fabulous people and provide great service. The location of the practice is easy to get in and out with spacious parking. A huge plus is convenience. I was able to drop off my car at Goodyear for an oil change, return UPS packages at Post Net, and did grocery shopping at Kroger. All in the same shopping strip!! There's a cute coffee cart with an assortment of flavors along with a water cooler in the waiting area. As new patients, my family and I were able to fill out paperwork on their website prior to our appointment. The wait was minimal. We had the pleasure of having both mother and son, Dr. Mai and Dr. Khoa, work on our teeth. Dr. Mai is nice and sweet. Dr. Khoa has a contagious smile with a goofy, warm, and welcoming personality. I like that they took the time to explain procedures thoroughly. I also realized I had been flossing incorrectly after they patiently demonstrated the correct way. We didn't feel rushed whatsoever and were given goodie bags (toothbrush, floss, toothpaste). Moreover, they give out a new patient GIFT - We each received portable phone chargers, the size of a lipstick! Very cool. To show their appreciation to their patients, they throw raffles a few times a year. For this upcoming March, patients can be entered to win a 60" 4K ULTRA HD TV for referrals. Dr. Ngocmai, Dr.Khoa, and Dr. Contreras are all very friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and professional! On my first visit for a dental cleaning, I commented on the beautiful paintings in the office and Dr. Ngocmai proceeded to reminisce about her father and tell me a bit of her story. I went in for my first consultation and they were thorough in explaining a plan for me. It was recommended I get a deep clean which was performed in two parts. I've been coming here for 2 years now. Dr. Nguyen works by herself usually with an assistant here and there. There's no other dentist here except her. The waiting area is pretty nice. There's a water fountain in there and it's actually calming when you're about to get your teeth pulled out. Nice. Every time I come here, the wait is usually 10 minutes because Dr. Nguyen is only one working here. Everything is clean and the staff is really friendly. Whenever I get a cleaning, I'm usually done in 30 minutes though 15 minutes is just waiting. Not too shabby. I've never had a problem here and the staff always treat me very well. I''m glad they still give out toothbrushes and floss. Forestwood Dental actually gets 4 1/2 stars from me but the waiting kills me sometimes. I like the magazine selection, so I don't mind waiting that much but next time, I'm bringing my Ipod. You should call to book an appointment though walk-ins are fine but the wait will be awhile. read more

Task of the day: find someone who says "I love going to the dentist" and means it. Go on, I'll wait. *crickets* Like everyone else in the world, I have a fear of going to the dentist. I don't have the greatest teeth. I'm not awesome about flossing (but I'm getting better!) and my brushing technique was wack (but I know the right way now!). Until recently, I drank a lot of sugary things like soda and coffee (more like sugar with some coffee added). Needless to say, I dreaded coming in for my appointment today. However, Forestwood Dental is great. The tech is modern and sleek. Can't remember the name of the lady who cleaned my teeth, but she was very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and her glasses rocked. She offered helpful advice, made me feel very comfortable and talked about my long-term dental goals. I hadn't been to a dentist in two years (shame on me, I know, but these things happen) so my cleaning was a bit painful, but it was necessary and I'm happy that she was thorough. My teeth felt so much better afterwards. Dr. Khoa is an absolute delight. As others have said, he has a contagious smile that makes you feel at ease, and a wonderful sense of humor. In fact, the whole office has a great sense of humor. Even though I didn't have the best news about my teeth, no one made me feel embarrassed. At the same time, they don't sugarcoat anything (hah--get it?) so you know exactly what to plan for and what your options are. You can rest assured that they have your best interests in mind. Last point: scheduling. This office is on Zocdoc. They also text. As a so-called "millennial," these were great perks for me. First of all, Zocdoc. You can make your appointment and fill out paperwork online. When I walked in ten minutes before my appointment, I didn't have to spend a half hour filling out papers like I've had to at other offices. Love it! And the texting is super helpful because I, like many others, prefer to text rather than talk on the phone--especially at work. Nothing more awkward than talking about getting cavities filled within earshot of your coworkers, am I right? OH! But wait, there's more. I got a gift! Who doesn't love gifts? New toothbrush and a portable phone charger? Score! The shortened version? Caring, thorough, professional and convenient service. I look forward to making Forestwood my dentist here in Houston. I came in today for a cleaning, and my information on file was reviewed for potential updates. I've been here for 9+ years! Dr. Mai is the sweetest person ever, and she really knows what she's doing with all those years under her belt. She broke the news to me that my four wisdom teeth were going to have to be extracted in a way that made me feel better about getting teeth yanked out than I would have? If asked, she'll give you the most detailed explanation of what she's going to do, the terminology she's using, etc. I never hesitate to ask or voice concerns with her. Plus, she'll make sure you get your toothbrush goodie bags on the way out. Recently in the past year, her son, Dr. Khoa has joined. He's quite the perfectionist and would sometimes hum along to the songs played in the office. Really helps you relax and feel like you're in good hands. He spent his undergrad years at UST (which is how my sister and I found out about the university and decided to study there), so if you're a Celt, yippee! There is not one bad thing I can say about this place. The employees and dentist themselves where WONDERFUL. Very clean and professional.

I only went for a few visits, but after this last visit I'm done. I was nervous of trying a new dentist even for a check up and I can say they were a little rough, but that's fair since I had not been flossing as I should have been. After their evaluation they told me I had several things wrong and I should take care of them right away, so I set a follow up appointment. Next time I came the room was dirty and hair all over the chair as if someone was getting a haircut, never explained it nor did they acknowledge it, but they did take care of my pain and procedure very professionally, and even made sure I wasn't in too much discomfort during 2 root canals even after accidentally droping the hot filling in my mouth burning my tounge. Which is fine accidents happen, but an apology would have been nice. The only issue I had during was the assistant was new as it was her first day and the doctor had to repeat himself several times, prep things himself a bit or correct her here and there, which kind of made me nervous. The other thing being another person randomly walking with no explanation and started to watch, but it's okay because they knew it was someone shadowing for experience, just awkward I had someone's first day who kept messing up and someone just standing in the corner staring at me. Now after this last visit they had originally given me a quote and when I showed up on the appointment date, are now charging me almost twice as much as stated and said I was wrong, heard them wrong, kept saying I was wrong, and got wrong information, despite them telling me and showing me. I walked out infuriated with a pain in my mouth and now need to find another dentist. Bottom line they do decent work but lots of issues, especially with communication and billing. read more

I called on a Friday night and spoke with Jan who was so sweet. She was able to schedule me the next day for an emergency visit on a Saturday. The entire staff was fantastic! I have a fear of Dentists and Dr. Nguyen explained everything he was going to do and I had zero pain when he gave me a shot! He also knows a lot about TMJ and did an assessment and gave me options which most Dentists aren't educated about. He is genuine, gentle and professional. Dr. Ishmael is the same so I felt like I was in great hands! I live in town but will make the drive to Spring from now on for this Dental Practice, it is far superior to any other! read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. They were one of the few places in the area open on Saturday and based on my experiences, Khoa seemed to be a very good dentist. He was empathetic and seemed to understand people's fears of going to the dentist (and having to pay!). However, my girlfriend and I have been having too many issues with the administrative side. Just recently, we were both supposed to have an appointment at the same day and time for a regular cleaning. However, the day before our appointment, my girlfriend received a voicemail from them (after the office was already closed, I might add) that she needed to reschedule her appointment because the hygienist was not going to be there the day of her appointment. Yet, I didn't receive the same call requesting a reschedule, even though we were both going for the same dental service. When I called to try and clarify what was going on, I somehow didn't get any questions answered. For example, I was told that the hygienist was sick and they didn't know if/when he/she would show up, but the receptionist still wanted us to come in later that day. I don't know if the receptionist didn't understand my questions or was just as confused as we were, but I ended up with no clarity of what was going on. She also kept asking if I wanted to reschedule my appointment, even though I made it abundantly clear I wanted clarification of the situation first. In any case, after the call, I was left more muddled than before. I would also like to add that this is the second time my girlfriend has had to reschedule, as the first time, they messed up and had prematurely told her to make a 6-month checkup, even though they had pestered her several times each week for a month to make that appointment. And I never got a call for a 6-month checkup even though it was definitely in my window of 6 months. Also, my girlfriend had a procedure performed there and fully paid for it before the procedure, but still received a call days after the procedure saying she needed to pay for it. All of these issues have occurred in less than a year. We are having issues with this dental provider and we haven't even seen the dentist in almost a year. That shouldn't happen. I believe Khoa is both a competent and understanding dentist, but if I can't trust them with scheduling a simple appointment, how can I trust them with my teeth? read more
