My whole family has been going to classes here for well over a year and love everything about it…read more Sensei Jaymes and Gae are great people who practice the 5 tenets of Taekwondo both in and out of the dojo. The dojo is incredibly affordable, flexible with class schedules, and every belt/ advancement is well earned. The classes have been great for teaching my kids personal responsibility, providing an appropriate outlet for pent-up energy, and an additional support structure. Sensei Jaymes is patient with every student but also firm in letting them know when they become unfocused, distracting, or unruly. He is also very upfront in letting students know the consequences if they continue to disrupt his teaching. Overall- we're very pleased with the dojo, its business practices, and class schedules.

The only downside for me is the commute to Fitchburg. As a swimmer, the pools were the selling point. Not huge, but they are all salt-water. Indoor 4 lane, indoor warm-water pool and outdoor 3 lane with adjacent shallow area means lots of options and a good way to direct people toward type of activity. It's not a facility that is geared toward kid memberships or programs, which is nice if you want people and facilities focused on fitness. I feel like there are a number of triathletes working out here. They do have a Masters Swim Club as well, which I might try. During COVID, they closed and cleaned every day for an hour, and I've seen that they've been maintaining the twice-daily cleaning schedule without closing (2:30pm and 8:30pm). I feel like the surfaces stay pretty clean, and there isn't excessive debris in the pool. Downside is that they aren't always the best communicators about how they are changing things up--more than once I've headed to the pool to discover the lanes are being used for a private lesson or a group class (like a Sunday night by the pool yoga). The upside to that is that they're working on finding ways to encourage fitness and interest, so kudos there.

Fair enough and my apologies for overlooking that by including my update in the Fit Fresh review. Hybrid shows real results via several ads that run in the WSJ. I was willing to pay the cost to join for those results in the time frame I had to complete. The bonus: I had a friend complete the program and although he's male (and men lose weight faster) I saw the same results in him and took his feedback to heart. So I was really excited to start the meal plan first and complete my bootcamp contract out then go over to Hybrid. My personal experience: The place appears to be clean and well kept. Hybrid Fitness apparently excutes the BCOR bootcamp committment in this area until someone else is able to handle the downtown/east/suburbian areas. I signed up with Bcor anticipating the start of my experience at the end of July 2012. Because of my previous experience and most recent email contact I decided this may not be smart to attend. I got unnerved after receiving a Yelp email that the Fit Fresh review received a response, but it was removed (no real issue there) + I received a harrasing message referring to my review via my inbox. So combine that inbox message with the removed message - call me smart to be nervous and suscipicous. Now, I'm over my fears of the Yelp stalker or at least the fears don't outweigh my hope in meeting my new deadline before having to report back to the unit. To that end, I'll report back in 90days how the workouts go.

Wife and I were in town for the CrossFit Games in Madison. We wanted a gym that, if we could…read moreactually find it, would be a "hybrid" between CrossFit and a regular gym. Holy crap we found it - literally - with Hybrid Athletic Club! Want to do CrossFit stuff with turf, sleds to push/pull, ropes (both hanging and battle), dead balls, wallballs, a rig, GHDs, rowers, you name it? Got it. Want to do standard bodybuilding with dumbbells, barbells, basic selectorized machines or regular cardio on ellipticals or treadmills or step mills or an air bike or ....? Got it! The two women who own it are super nice and it's obvious they are REALLY trying to do well by their members. In the mind blown category, as if what I already said isn't enough, one of the owners, who is OBVIOUSLY a MUCH better person than me, remembered my name from the previous day. Huh? Yep. She came over to me as I was foam rolling and said "Hi David" - think about that, I'm in town for three days, I'll never have a full on membership there due to where I live, and she remembered my name. Hell, I go to the LA Fitness 3x/week and I can't even get the counter person to say high when they are HOLDING the fob scanner 18 inches away from me! It gets even better. They are a 24/7 facility with fob access. So we got a fob, paid the very reasonable fee for our three days of use and we were all set - we could come and go as we pleased, any day or time we wanted. That's almost weird it's so good - since it wasn't a globo Anytime Fitness and the like. The 2nd day I saw something I've NEVER seen in my 33 years as a gym rat and probably NEVER will again. There was a CrossFit class going on AND there was figure/bodybuilding/physique posing clinic going on in other areas of the gym. Think about THAT - CrossFit and physique co-existing in the same building? Yep - and since I love both it was pretty freakin cool to see. We will definitely be back to this facility when we return next year - this is OUR gym while we're in town now. We just wish there was such a place in Springfield. If I had more than two thumbs I'd give it more than two thumbs up - same goes for the five stars.

They are both circuit training kind of classes, and the class sizes range depending on which class you go to. I appreciated that the instructors helped to correct my form and give pointers so I both maximize my workout and prevent injury. I also liked that the classes I went to all had less than 6 people, which may sound scary at first, but it certainly fosters a sense of community among the attendees to cheer each other on and get through the workout together. Whether you're new to working out or a seasoned veteran, I think there's something for everyone here and it is worth your time to take a class and decide that for yourself, but I know that I'll most certainly be back!
