Very disappointed.

There are only 3 lanes available; and if you go anytime after work, good luck getting access to the single lane that they condense lap swimmers down to due to swim lessons taking precedence. There are weird "safety breaks" that occur throughout the day and the last time I was there, I was in my final 25 lengths to my 2 mi swim and was told I had to get out because the lifeguard "deserved a break" (her words, not mine). Mind you, I was the ONLY person in the entire aquatics area at this time. And, she was wearing street clothes; not even a swim suit. I assured her I was of no concern to her and asked if I could finish my training. She suggested I "read the signs" As soon as my training comes to an end, I will be leaving this location. The…read moremini golf was quite busy during the time that we were out there, but it didn't feel cramped at all! We decided to split our group into two teams and we did the Volcano one. It was a lot of fun, not very challenging but of course, our group made it competitive. After putting, we did the go-karts, which was also a lot of fun! Some of the guys' karts were slow, which was probably a good thing. They also have an arcade area, which was nice and cool since it was quite warm and muggy outside during the time we were there. The bathrooms were clean. We didn't try any of their food while there, but they had ice cream! Overall a good place to hang with a large group, good for families with kids, or adults that want to have fun like kids :D

So I have been to several of their events they host, either music and food outdoors in the summer…read moreand indoors in cooler weather. Yesterday I went to a music and fish fry indoors. The indoor food first: we got the fried cod and a couple of drinks. I wish I'd taken pictures but the place was crowded and loud so it was a little much to try to relax and hear the music much less have a conversation so when the food came, we ate! The cod was thickly battered but cooked nicely with plenty of tender fish inside so the batter didn't take over. Almost, but not. We got a generously sized baked potato and a little coleslaw. I avoided the coleslaw, but the potato was good and the hot food was delivered hot, which was a refreshing change from some places. Although crowded the service was good. It was a little slow getting our checks but everyone was leaving around the same time so that's understandable. My friend had a nice chat getting to know the waitress at the end. My friend is definitely a get to know you kinda person, but that's beside the point, except I'm sure the waitress will remember us next time we go so that's nice. The music. It was supposed to be an acoustic night but definitely was hard to hear over the conversations which were loud. He did do a few riffs on an electric guitar and I think some kind of keyboard, no doubt so we could hear something, but the room and crowd was not made to be able to hear much. In the better weather these events are louder outside and crowded with 3 food truck choices usually. I look forward to going to those again. I wish I could review the golf course but I've yet to play it. I look forward to trying 9 holes soon. It has three 9 hole courses, regulation length. love to try it out. From the clubhouse it looks beautiful and lots of rolling hills so I'll have to give it a spin this summer too.

We love this location!…read more I've been going here off and on since I was a kid and used to beg my mom to come play in the kids area, pool and racquetball courts. As I got older I enjoyed the weight room, indoor track, sauna, and eventually, now that I have kids of my own, REALLY enjoy the daily childcare. There is truly something here for every age group. Not to mention the staff are over and above friendly and I feel like every time I come I'm family. When I was a kid I definitely took for granted how lucky we are to have a facility like this. I didn't know any different. But now after traveling a lot for work and using other Y facilities, I realize how great this location is--not to mention it's the 6th biggest one in the U.S.! They have lots of programs and classes for every fitness level if that is your thing, and have events throughout the year too. They do so much good for our community and my wife and I can't say enough good things about the Y. Plus it's very affordable for everything they offer. A membership here also entitles you to access several other Rockford Y facilities in addition to a majority of YMCAs around the country. We've been members at other health clubs/gyms around town but this is our favorite. We think everyone should be members!
