A provider who was with them at the time of my appointment and scheduled surgery to remove two cysts from my scalp that I had been waiting 10 years to get removed, as they had recently become extremely painful, put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks leading up to the scheduled surgery, and took me off my blood thinners for the same amount of time. The day before the surgery, I received a phone call from this office saying that the provider in question had moved to work only in the Wake Forest location and my appointment would have to be rescheduled. The lead doctor ended up calling me back after I had explained that I was never told this during my appointment. I was originally told I could have this done in my wheelchair since I am nonambulatory, and that I had been off blood thinners for 2 entire weeks. Turns out, no, I couldn't get this done safely in my wheelchair, I should have been informed by the provider that they wouldn't be at that office any more well in advance, and should not have put me on the antibiotics or taken me off the blood thinners, as there was no way they could do this surgery at their location. I do not blame the staff or the lead doctor for their former colleagues' poor communication, but going forward, I hope this doesn't happen again for any other patients. The staff was kind, polite, and empathetic to my suffering and my plight, and I was able to get this done later with a plastic surgeon from another practice, but the path to getting to that point was very frustrating. I wish the staff nothing but the best, and I hope they can communicate with patients better going forward.
