I didn't think we had a great store like that around, was going to try brands I liked that I knew they carried. I was so wrong! This place was far and above my expectations and exactly what the article mentioned. I spoke to a gal that was extremely knowledgeable about the two brands (Hoka and Brooks) that I was interested in. I explained what I wanted/needed, she made a few recommendations. I made the selections and she brought out several pairs of each. She had me sit and actually put the shoes on my feet! Made sure they were the proper fit, laced them up and had me walk around the store. It was incredible, I was over the moon with the store/clerk and the shoes were epic. It has been 4 months and the shoes rocked the 5k and are now my daily shoes.

I was surprised to find the quality and quantity of shoes in a store like this in Terre Haute. They may not have every pair in stock to sell you off the shelf, but the staff can order anything you want. The staff is welcoming, friendly and a touch aggressive to get you into a shoe to sell you. There's a 'shoe store' (and I use the term loosely) between Bloomington and Spencer that sells cowboy boots that we checked out one time. Extremely good customer service. I found a terrific pair of shoes, at a good price. My husband, on the other hand, found nothing that interested him. The shoe selection for men was miserable. It's mostly boho and shabby-chic-style clothes in flowery patterns, flowy eyelet blouses, embroidered denim and lots of pastels, which is not my thing at all, but maybe it's yours? If it is, then you're in luck! This place has all of that and then some. Downstairs, there are lots of little gifts, knickknacks, trinkets and stocking-stuffer-type things. Sunglasses, lip gloss, funky earrings, bath bombs, journals and pens, books, home goods and lots more. There are also some Bible devotionals and signs with Bible scripture on them. I think Mulberry Cottage leans Christian, and what made me even more convinced of this is the music playing throughout the store (Christian music). This store also likes its signs: There are chalkboard signs with phrases like "Home is where family gathers" and "Bless our home" and other such anodyne phrases. This boutique is very colorful and cute, though. As soon as you step inside, you feel like you're in a special place, and I immediately wanted to take photos. The pastel rainbow-colored staircase leading you up to the clothing section deserves to be captured in a selfie, for sure.
