After sending observations, manager sent handyman and cleaner and took care of some of the things. Apparently, after previous tenants moved out, it was handed to us without proper standard cleaning. After staying for about 9 months - I moved out. I was hoping for full refund of my security deposit as I cleaned the apartment and left it in pristine state. But to my dismay, the manager who inspected the move out state charged me $175 for touch up paint. I was told in spot that any tenant that moves out before 1 year pays $175 regardless of state. It did not seem right, but I agreed on the spot (thinking it must be in fine prints in contracts I had signed) and signed the doc. But when I reviewed the original contract docs later, I did not see such thing. Then I emailed the manager about it and manager changed the narrative and said the touch up paint will be required because furniture possibly touched the walls, etc. I do not agree with that because the areas in question were clear areas and no furnitures were kept there. So the bottom line is, I was made to pay the $175 for pre-existing touch up paint needs. Its good, convenient and reasonably priced apartment but my move in and move out experiences were subpar. So...2 star for those experiences! Pros - reasonably priced, close to mall and supermarkets, good place to live Cons - the move in and move out experiences (Attached are few pics taken on the first day of moving in)
