It's the playground at Nicholls Park, aka Fruit Heights Castle Park, aka The Pirate Ship Park. We go to The "Castle/Pirate Ship Playground,"which is an extremely large, multi level playground that's packed with activities throughout, a climbing wall multiple slides, the pirate ship, swings everywhere, a sea creature, a large parking lot to the immediate south and a men's and women's bathroom. This park also has walking trails, a pavilion, benches throughout, mature trees for shade, a field area, baseball diamond and it's dog friendly!

This park is located right off Highway 89 (or Kaysville Mainstreet from the west side) and is the perfect place to spend the day. I've visited this park many times through the years and have never been disappointed. They recently made a path through the shady hollow just north of the park that is perfect for a run or walk. If the kids have excess energy, head up to the playground! With a "castle" and "pirate" theme, this playground is sure to please your children. Slides, swings (including a child/parent swing and swings for those with disabilities), a sea monster "swimming" through the wood chips, and a pirate ship ‍ are sure to help you and your kids crest fine memories. Another cool thing is that you can download the "Biba" app. It allows you and your child to play interactive games with your smart phone and the playground. I've yet to test it out, but it seems interesting! If you want to bring a picnic, there are trees around for a nice shady spot to lay a blanket or head just west of the playground to the pavilions that have picnic tables. There is a bathroom available too. Overall, this park has a lot and is sure to be a family favorite for years to come. Take the time to enjoy the good outdoors in quiet Fruit Heights.

Wow this was a really cool place!…read more I brought my 2 year old and 10 month old and they had a blast. First things first was the pricing, when I looked online it said it was $10 for adults if they wanted to join the fun, and free to watch. And $6 for two and under. However, when I went to go pay it was only $12 for the three of us. So I don't really understand what I paid for, but was happy with the result. There is a crawling baby section, 3 and under section, and then of course the huge playground. The crawling baby section was honestly quite disappointing. Of course, babies of that age don't need much, but the area was so full of blocks that no one can even walk in it, let alone letting a baby crawl in it. The 3 and under section was more than appropriate for me little guy though, so I put him in there. There large playground is awesome. This was the first time I let me two year old truly go and adventure on his own. I was a little nervous and kept checking up on him, but don't think he has ever had so much fun in his whole life. What was really nice is that much of the playground is built in such a way that as an adult, I didn't have much trouble navigating it when going up myself. Aside from the crawling baby section though, the other reason I only give 4 stars is that I wish there were only exits from the playground on the same side. You can actually get up to it from all directions and there are two exit doors towards the back of the playground. They appear to be alarmed, but honestly, there really isn't anything stopping someone from standing in the back, waiting for a kid, and running. I know this is a worst case scenario and likely never happened, but the possibility did make me a little uncomfortable. That said, I highly recommend taking your kids here. The price is well worth it and they will have the time of their lives

We're from California and don't have places like this available really, so being able to go is a lot of fun when we visit other states. Review #700!! This is one of my favorite places in the whole world - been coming here for years - I…read morecan't believe I haven't reviewed it yet haha!! I visit my son in SLC often and come here every chance I get when I'm in town - the birding is SPECTACULAR! The trails are well maintained and the surrounding ponds and mountains are beautiful. This is a helluva place to practice birding and bird photography skills. I've lost count of how many bird species I've seen here - there are over 60 species known to nest here! I've seen so many "lifers" here (birder-speak for first time sightings lol). The Bald Eagles nest here in winter and are easily spotted everywhere! Tundra Swans also pass through in the colder months are a quite a sight to see. They have a small rookery of nest boxes on tall stilts for the Great Blue Herons in spring and they're so fun to watch - especially once the babies hatch! It's especially picturesque with the big red barn reflecting on the large pond. It's right off the parking lot next to the Eccles Education Center. It's truly a beautiful place in all seasons - even winter when it's coveted in snow. You're surrounded by mountains and ponds on all sides - some close and some distant. Wildlife, birds, marshes, dramatic vistas - such a lovely, peaceful place. The Great Salt Lake is so close - and that's one reason there's so many birds (native and migratory) - it's a very important resource for them! There are numerous trails - they're almost entirely flat. Very well maintained- mostly gravel but some boardwalks across the ponds and marshes. There is also a seasonal driving route - it's closed in winter for the nesting birds. The roads are also gravel and dirt and can be a bit rough but doable. I've never needed anything more than our normal car. You can drive up to Goose Egg Island which gives you a great vantage point for the surrounding area and has nice views of the Great Salt Lake. Seasonal duck hunting is allowed so be vigilant and careful. They have a large paved parking lot with plenty of spaces. There are bathrooms in the parking area - decent, regular bathrooms in the education center when it's open and some vaulted toilets open year round and earlier/later than the education center. You don't need any special hiking gear - trails are super easy. But be sure to bring your binoculars or telephoto lenses!!

She was super knowledgeable, kind and generous with her time. Some of the enclosures seem far too small and kinda dirty. It felt kinda like a money grab. There is token slots everywhere you turn to take money for feeding the animals. I can see the interactive aspect, but it would be very expensive for a family to come here if they want to feed multiple animals considering each token is $2. The place was also very hot and had an odd smell. Tight quarters. It was a fun one time experience.

This led us to be so confused with whether we input the right directions. However, on the building of the mall in front of the food court, you see "SeaQuest". Yep - we're in the right place... Once you walk in the mall, you pass the 90s looking food court and head downstairs below the food court to find the entrance of SeaQuest past a small playground for kids. At the register, we were greeted by a kind worker manning the check-in desk, Natalia. She was so amazing! She gave us the low-down on what to expect and even gave us a few extra tokens to use to feed the animals. Honestly, we had the best experience possible because of Natalia. We ended up having the full experience of feeding the otters, hanging out with the cats, and even the porcupine (quillio) and prairie dogs (blossom, bubbles, and buttercup)! Literally, SeaQuest was my major highlight of the trip to Utah! We could not believe the different kinds of animals they had in such a small setting, which of course from an outside perspective, you feel really bad that these animals are "entrapped" or living in such an enclosed space, but it's almost like you can see that the animals might actually enjoy living in there. Lol, probably because they're getting fed majority of the day, but the caretakers seem to be pretty good at spacing out meals for them. When you first walk in, it was almost alarming to the point of feeling like there are a number of safety hazards/concerns for both the animals and patrons. The glass for the aquariums are so low that people can stick their hands in (which is apparently totally ok to do for most aquariums). Some animals like the iguanas are totally hanging almost outside of their open cages for people to pet. You can also just hop into the tortoise's enclosure to say hi. So crazy. There are so many crazy kids running around, so I honestly feel worried about the animals getting hurt and bombarded on the daily, but what I love about this place is its uniqueness and mission to educate the masses. These animals are very well adapted to humans and seem to have very good caretakers, so that part was reassuring. Oh also, the little doctor fish that exfoliate your hands was the coolest! Free manicure with your entry, hehe!
