This was my 3rd visit with their office. As with the last visit the hygienist was running behind and a DA took me back to assist. She was great and told me what was going to happen at that visit. She then told me she would be taking my x-rays and polishing and flossing my teeth. -- WHAT, NOW? Doesn't that happen AFTER the cleaning. Nope! It was done before! So, had x-rays, she polished and flossed my teeth, then had Dr. came to do exam and then the hygienist cleaned my teeth. To me that's all backward - like doing your hair and make-up to then take a shower. It doesn't make sense. I also asked about perio charting because I'm VERY aware of my oral care and mentioned that I don't think it's happening at my visits because I've never heard or been told about my numbers. I told her I like to HEAR what the pocket depth is so I know of any areas that I need to watch or spend extra care on at home (if there's a 4 or larger I'm spending extra time on that area). She said she does it each visit and proceeds with "cleaning" but again NEVER says anything about charting or numbers AFTER I JUST TOLD HER I NEED TO HEAR IT! Had been going to them for many many years... I had a tooth abscess and they were suppose to send a prior authorization and then call me back for an appointment... never heard from them again... I ended up in the hospital and icu for 2 months... now I have another abscess, since they failed to do their job!! Now they say I am no longer a patient because they failed to do their job... stay away from these people!!! read more

My experience with Foothills Dental clear orthodontic aligner treatment is amazing! As an adult who used to have braces as a kid, I was nervous to begin this and apprehensive. Dr. Richey and his staff have been helpful in every way from getting things squared away with my insurance, aligner care, to explaining ways to manage the tooth aches from the aligners. I'd highly recommend foothills dental to anyone who's looking to do clear aligners! Their hours are absolutely great for someone who works different hours and they're flexible with scheduling too! I'm a Veteran with a 100% Service Connected Disability. I broke a tooth and because I live 3 hours away from the Salt Lake VA facility the VA gave me a list of local providers to seek treatment from. Dr Bell (both) were listed as providers, so I called to make an appointment. When I arrived the office staff was very confused as how to move forward, Their main focus seemed to get billing information from me so they could send a bill. I tild them I am a Disabled Veteran and that all my Medical and Dental bills are paid by the VA and I don't receive those bills. They had told me they work with Veterans before, but it didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. They kept insisting that I get billed and then I give the bill to the VA. I told them no I was being referred through community care and TriWest was the provider. They eventually conceded to see me and not to bill or charge me for any service. They called a week later, I was assuming to tell me when my appointment for treatment would be. But to my surprise I was greeted by the office Manager who was upset telling me that the VA had no record of me and that I was not insured through them. She was rude and demeaning in her tone as well as accusatory. I was thrown off guard by the attack phone call. I immediately called the Salt-lake City VA Dental office and told them this story. They said it sounded like the Dental office was lying. In talking with Community Care coordinator at Salt-Lake she said I did the right thing by not being seen. If you are a Veteran and you are foolish enough to be seen by this office, do not let them trick you into getting any treatment without a pre authorization. I go to Dr. Tyson. When I first came to him I was terrified of dentists and told him so. He promised me he would always be aware of that and he would take good care of me. He has always done that. He makes sure I am comfortable and that his touch is gentle. He tries to be aware of my emotional status making sure that I have no pain and that my anxiety levels stay low. I couldn't go anywhere else! read more

This is our new dentist. My wife went to the branch on the west side and I went to foothills. They were very nice and helpful. I felt comfortable and not pressured. I have not been to the dentist in a while due to no insurance, this was a good experience. And now I have a plan to get back on track. The only reason it's not five stars is because I would have liked to hear more ways about curing my gum disease, it's not real bad. There are for sure ways to address it, without surgery, and I didn't get any recommendations except more frequent cleaning. Besides that the cost and care were all reasonable and in fact better than expected. The wait time for appt and to get in was great. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new dentist. read more

I would have rated them -10 if possible, horrific and inhumane dentist. My boyfriend was in need of an extraction and these guys were the only ones with an open appointment. The office is clean and the front desk ladies are nice and all but what happened in the back office was horrible, inhuman, and completely unacceptable. When they first brought him in the back, the dentist looked in his mouth for less than 30 seconds, and told him the tooth had to come out and that it would be like pulling sliver then left the room. Then the assistant came in and told him he needed to go PAY UPFRONT for the procedure and after he paid they could get started. He said they made him feel belittled and like he was going to try and skip out on the bill or something. So he went up front and paid the lady OVER $400!!! He then went back to the office and the assistant came in and gave him a topical anesthetic, then a different assistant came in and gave him 3 shots of which made his mouth hurt worse... then the dentist came in and asked if he was numb yet and he told him no that he was in fact in more pain then when he first walked in, the dentist then gave him additional 3 shots. After waiting a few minutes he asked again if my boyfriend was numb yet, and my boyfriend told him no the shots were putting so much pressure on his tooth that they were only making the pain worse, the dentist then gave him a 3 more shots and left him for 15 minutes or so to give him time to numb up. By this time my boyfriend was in excruciating pain due from all the liquid injected into his gums putting so much pressure on his tooth he could barely stand it. When the dentist came back in he informed my boyfriend that he most likely wouldn't get numb because the infection "turns the Novocain to water" and they didn't have time to wait for any other options (i.e. sedation) and he grabbed ahold of his tooth and started to pull it out! All the while my boyfriend was NOT numb and could feel absolutely everything!! Once the tooth was out they handed him 4 ibuprofen and 3 prescriptions, and told him he could go. They didn't even suction the rest of the infection out or anything! My boyfriend said it was the most horrific experience he has EVER had. We will NEVER be returning obviously and we will be reporting these people. What they did to him and the way they treated him was absolutely unacceptable! On top of the amount they charged! Absolutely ridiculous, never have I ever had to pay over $400 for an extraction nor have I EVER been asked to pay before getting the procedure done. Baked some brownies, burned them a little. Took a bite out of a piece and broke a piece of my tooth! I let it go for a few days and then started having terrible tooth pains and I couldn't make it stop! Took a lot of pain meds but they didn't help. I called around to a lot of dentists and none of them had any openings. I googled some suggestions and Foothills Dental Care came up, and boy am I glad I called them! They worked with my work schedule and got me an appointment the same day! I was in and out in less than 2 hours! It was my first time there and I had a lot of questions! The staff was super friendly and super helpful! Got my insurance set up and got pricing and procedures right away! I ended up having the tooth extracted; I was skeptical because I haven't had good dentist experiences, but they got it done in less than 20 minutes and I didn't feel a single thing! Honestly I don't know what I expected but these guys blew me away! We made a plan of everything else I'm going to get done and I'm super excited to come back and work with these amazing people! Shower you with gifts and talk of free iPads. Then they overcharge you, tell you you need things you don't.. When I asked for a $70 dollar break because they were over charging compared to other places the lady accual came out and yelled at me. It was crazy. She said "do you expect free things when you walk into a Walmart". I had just brought all 7 of my kids in the prior week for $2,500 worth of work but I was a terrible person for asking for a $70 because their prices were too hi. They are not interested in the priciest, just in your wallet. Stay away from a dentist that has to bribe people with iPads to get you to come. read more

My husband was conned in by the get an ipod sign. Personally I didn't think much of a dentist that offered and ipod to get someone in the door. They gave him a check and quotes for work to be done. He went back a few times and even scheduled the kids a me for cleanings. Then my youngest had a few baby teeth that needed pulling. okay fine, till the bill showed up for that and all the other work that was quoted to him. Somehow after paying the quoted amount we suddenly owed several thousand dollars! They back pedaled on the amounts quoted him. I warned him that a place that needed to offer ipods and ipads was not trust worthy. Is there not an honest dentist in this town?! read more

My girlfriend decided to try this place because they offered her a free dental exam and cleaning. Watch she ended up with was dishonest service and bullshit. The dentist at foothill said she had 4 cavities when in fact after she went to a real professional dentist in Salt Lake City, said she only had 1. On top of this the dentists at foothill wanted to charge her anywhere from $212 to $260 per cavity whereas the real professional dentist in Salt Lake City charged her only $150 for the 1 cavity he could find. And to make matters worse when we actually TRIED to get foothill to send us the X-Ray exams just to make sure this REAL PROFESSIONAL dentist in Salt Lake City could find out just where these other cavities could be guess what foothill said? First they said it would take 5-7 days and the approval of a supervisor and doctor just to email the records after we sent them the privacy form allowing for transfer of the exams, and when they still didn't send them what did they say? They said it would cost $150 dollars to e-mail the x-rays they had already done. What a joke! What a bunch of con artists. I am going to tell all my friends to stay away from this place and fill a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Worse experience ever! Went in on Saturday 5/6 had my teeth cleaned, decide I wanted to get my teeth whiten also. They did the Sensational smiles with the us light. According to the sensational smiles web site I should have had the light on for 20min well they did it for 30min. I woke up on Sunday with my lips 4x there size. On Monday my lip was full of blisters and very swollen still I could even feel them in my throat. I called them on Monday asked to talk to DR was told I couldn't and he was to busy. Tried calling again see what I can apply on my UV burn still was not able to talk to him. His assistant finally called me in the afternoon and asked what was going on I explained she told I must have hand and foot. I told her that was not possible she said that's they only thing it could be. I went in after work and the DR agreed it was a UV burn. All they said was here is a prescription that I would have to buy to heal. In other words I paid for whitening, paid for my prescription and today day 3 still have a fat lip and blisters. DO NOT GO FOOTHILL DENTAL OR RIVERWEST DENTAL. I will be reporting them. read more
