We are in the process of moving back to Tucson after many years away. I had never gone to the St…read more Philip's Plaza Saturday Market in my previous residences, so we decided to check it out on a recent weekend when we were back in town finding a place to live. I am surprised to read some negative reviews for the market: there were a number of interesting vendors there. It is true that most were not food related: definitely more arts, crafts, supplements, etc. But still lots of fun shopping to do in an adorable venue. We talked to lots of nice folks. Someone else mentioned in a one star review "no coffee". I assume this means there is no longer a coffee vendor in the market (we didn't see one) but the market takes place in the same plaza where Ren Coffee is located and their coffee is amazing! We grabbed a cup from there prior to walking around the market. All in all a lovely experience: I'd be tempted to go a little later in the day next time so I could grab a margarita at Reforma after our shopping experience concludes.

I was definitely looking for strawberries since I pick up a flat when I can there in the past. No luck today. I ended up getting a whole bunch of other things that delighted the eyes. I purchased some really cute pottery that had saguaro's on it and I got some cheesecake and some Alaska Kodiak caught fish that my husband will have for dinner sometime this week. I absolutely enjoyed the live music which they typically have at the farmers market here but just missed some of what I was expecting. There wasn't very much food available and that's probably because Saint Phillips has the REN coffee and also açai bowl place. With it being winter or maybe it's a slow time for the market. We did chat with our familiar mushroom vendor and several of the arts and craft vendors. Overall, it was a fun walk and a lot less crowded than it normally would be. There are restrooms available and as we came at 9:30, some vendors were still setting up.

These people are thieves. If they don't like the way you look at them, they'll scream at you calling you racist names. Then pull their phone to finish you off by taking a video of you to the point that you feel threatened and harassed. The supervisor over the locations or maybe just the Tucson location is a joke. He has small mans syndrome, and loves to be superior to others. Yolanda Soto, the CEO is a bigger joke. When I called her to explain what took place, she had already heard, and formed a judgement of me. She lectured me on being healthy, belittled me for crying, and told me to be more understanding of her employees world. I did nothing wrong, I said nothing wrong. All I wanted was my second box I donated money for, if he wasn't going to give me a box, then I wanted my money back, I in no way donated that money. I was APPALLED at the treatment they gave me. I will never go to another event if theirs.

Help them out by bringing your own bags or a cooler on wheels. There is no better deal out there, it's 10$ for 60 pounds, but remember larger donations are excepted if you can afford a little extra! Shop and eat fresh!

I've tried several of theirs, and my favorites are their green chile chicken, red chile pork, black bean & cheese, and breakfast sausage & cheese, but they are all good. Now, you can get them in many grocery stores nationwide, so you know I'm buying these much more often.

I was…read moreactually a little sad to hear their eastside brick-and-mortar location closed, but I'm glad they're still popping up at events and around town because these tamales are definitely worth tracking down. I ordered the blue corn veggie tamale, and my husband went for the cheese & green chile. The masa itself was really delicious--soft, flavorful, and that beautiful blue corn adds a little extra depth. While I wouldn't say it's the absolute best tamale I've ever had, it was still very solid and something I'd happily eat again. I especially appreciate that they offer a vegan option right on the menu, which isn't always easy to find when it comes to tamales. Overall, a great quick food-truck find and a Tucson staple I'm glad is still making the rounds. If you see their truck at an event, it's definitely worth grabbing a tamale (or two).
