Bruntsfield Sports claims to be a tennis specialist and indeed it's not lying. A good racket does come with a price though, and I'm not sure if you are better off pursuing other on line retailers. However, the staff are very knowledgeable and I strongly believe you should have a hands-on feel of tennis equipment. The store is quite large and other than tennis also stocks squash, rugby and other sport equipment, clothing and shoes.

I was intrigued as to how the branch in the St. James Centre measured up and so I popped in for a browse. To my delight, they still had the excellent sale on where many items have as much as 70% off! That is my kind of sale! Although much smaller than it's Princes Street counterpart it still has a varied selection of stock and everything is very well organised. It was a bit cramped though, especially as there was a woman in shopping with the biggest pram I've ever seen for the tiniest baby. They had an excellent range of camping stools with polka dots on them and I was very tempted to buy a few as they were the exact match for my picnic set. After realising that I'd have to carry them about Edinburgh all day I decided against it and instead went for a camping torch in the shape of a bumble bee. Excellent. The queue was quite large but instead of getting flustered, the staff were very friendly and I heard them giving pretty much every customer advice on how to get the best out of their purchase and how to keep it in it's optimum condition for longer.

They have all kinds of winter gear, camping gear and other sports gear. In sale time they're not exactly bad, but they are reasonable prices and really what you would expect to pay outside of the sale times with a few items being the exceptions and being very good deals. Outside of sale times there isn't particularly much reason to come here. I know sports direct doesn't offer the same quality of service, but it really is worth the cheaper prices to sacrifice the quality and when it comes to price this shop fails badly compared to Sports Direct. Don't get me wrong this place isn't bad value it's just that there is a lot cheaper just down the road.
