Went in for my first (and definitely not last!) tattoo from Nick, which was portrait of a deceased Rockstar that has helped me through some tough times. Although I am still needing to go back for a 2nd session to get some more things added (per my request, since we already spent 6 hours on just the portrait), if I walked away with just the portrait i got, I would've been 100% satisfied. Everyone that's seen the tattoo has complimented him on the attention to detail, and i couldn't agree with them anymore! He really captured the essence and vibes of the guy he tattooed on me! Nick walked me through the whole process of the tattoo, gave me frequent breaks, and was overall one of the best artists I could've chosen to work with! Thank you Foolish Pride, and especially you Nick, definitely looking forward to my next tattoo from you guys! read more

From the very minute we walked in it was a friendly and comfortable experience! I was nervous about having my first tattoo but it was a very pleasant experience! I am hooked! Front desk was courteous and very friendly. Zoe, our tattoo artist, was great with suggestions and did a really good job at making me comfortable. Highly recommended! read more

Chris is the first (and hopefully the only) person to tattoo me. We discussed what I wanted vs what was realistic for finger tattoos. He was honest about the fact that they will likely fade. I appreciated his professional opinion, and chose to move forward with the tattoo. We discussed the price, I paid the down payment, and scheduled for our session the following day. When I arrived for our appointment we talked again about what I wanted, and where. His attention to detail and relatable personality made for an awesome experience. The ladies who were working at the front were also very kind and helpful. read more

I am unhappy with my experience here. I went in with a rough idea, spoke to Johan who told me what I wanted wouldn't look good, so we worked together to design something else. It involved flowers and text. The text is asymmetrical and slopes down, and when I confronted the artist about it, he said it was because of my scoliosis. Yet the stencil was perfectly straight. As it is healing, the text is getting thicker in some parts, which I am told means he went too deep. In terms of the flowers, borders overlap when they shouldn't and there are areas that are colored without a border. It's just sloppy and I will be going elsewhere to fix it. read more

What an amazing experience! I would highly recommend Foolish Pride Tattoo. The staff is very welcoming and friendly! Lefty is an amazing tattoo artist! He was up front, honest and very professional. He designed my tattoo to a tee. I absolutely love it. He took the time to explain every step and the entire process. Printed the design several times to make sure the ink would be just right and not bleed into each other. The entire vibe was on point! Very inviting, fun and professional. read more

My first visit to FoolishPride and it was a great experience. I've had tattoos done before but none were like my experience here. My sister and I wanted to get matching tattoos of one of my moms favorite things to say to us. We got set up with JD and it couldn't of gone smoother. I told him what I wanted and he was ready to go when we got there. My sister had several questions cause it was her first, honest I didn't think she would sit, but she did and like a champ. I would definitely see JD again and an trying to come up with a idea to cover up a older tattoo done locally twice that still looks like crap. The shop was nice and clean. Good job. read more

This review is solely based on communication and customer service. I reached out for a consult and heard back a few days later. I was informed the gentleman I preferred was booked out but there were other team members who previously did similar work and would be a good fit. That was the end of our communication. No follow-up, nothing! So bummed I won't be getting a tattoo here but hope others have communication success! read more

Very impressed. Great service and atmosphere. Manikka did excellent work Friendly and professional staff!

Don't waste your time with this place, absolutely no communication, the artists have an ego through the roof and the lady working the front desk has a bad attitude. I had a tattoo appointment that was supposed to be multiple sessions worth over 1k and they still blew me off. read more

Been going to foolish pride tattoo now for about 2 and a half years. Went to their original location and now their new location off 1st ave. The new location is open and beautiful . Modern vibes with a great interactive layout for talking with other customers and your artist. I have come to TJ for my whole sleeve tattoo and that man is 1st class. Great person, great tattooer. TJ has not only been my artist, but I can consider him now a friend with how many conversations we have had over the last few years. He did my whole left arm sleeve and I couldn't be even happier!! This shop is full of great artists and even better people. Check them out if you want a great tattoo with great customer service read more

I don't yelp often, but this place deserves so much hype. I had Jack as my tattoo artist, first of all his designs were amazing! He was doing a very personal piece for me, it is a Medusa tattoo. I was very nervous for any questions I might get. Jack was so supportive and reassured me that Foolish Pride was a no judgment zone. He was very patient and was beyond understanding of me wanting my friend there for support! He was so supportive and kind about me wanting to move the stencil and or resizing! Overall this was my most positive experience in a tattoo shop and getting a tattoo! Highly recommend! I love my tattoo! read more

Greg King seriously went above and beyond adding to an existing tattoo I had. He made up for the terrible front desk experience by far. His work is great, and such a delight! read more

Can I just say how amazing TJ is once again? I came in tonight for a touch-up on the tattoo he did of my mom. It healed really nicely, however her left eye got infected. The infection was caused by my dog licking my new tattoo as soon as she did that I jumped up and washed it off. So TJ told me to use a loofah for two weeks and gently scrub the tattoo helping to remove the excess scar tissue buildup on the outside. So after a week and a half, I took a picture and emailed it to him to show him the progress. He told me it looked a lot better than the first time and to come in for my appointment. Once I got in he asked to see the tattoo and said it looked a lot better. We walked back to the station he had it already prepped up. I knew the drill, I sat in the chair pulled up my sleeve and was ready for him to start his work. I let him keep the 8 x 10 photo of my mom so he had something to use. First he started on her eyes obviously and I watched as he did his work. I didn't have time once I left the house to take any ibuprofen so I sat and dealt with the pain; and you know what, it really doesn't bother me. I know it may sound weird to people but I actually enjoy that little bit of pain during a tattoo, it makes me feel human. I think I was in his chair for 30 minutes we chatted the entire time, I kept my focus and by the time he finished it looked amazing. I can't breeze this man enough I have told so many people about his work! TJ Hal is mega talented and if you don't have a piece by this man, you need to get one. My boss has had 2 piece done by home since I sent her to him. Trust me, in 1 year he has tattooed 4 amazing pieces of art on my body and will continue to tattoo more. I'm happy with his work and just a cool guy! Thank you TJ! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place!!!! I'm from Mass and my bf is from the Tampa area so I originally booked an appt in Ybor city (YBCT) during our vacation....but after some mis-communication or non communication (ugh) it didn't happen so we decided to roll down to St. Pete....I quickly yelped the best place to get a tattoo and this place popped up. I wanted a really pretty blue-ish peony tattoo on my right wrist and originally I honestly wanted a girl to do it to add a bit of a feminine touch but I got Brian (Bower) and he was nothing but wonderful! He quickly sketched it out and it was slightly bigger than I originally thought in my head, but after he placed it, I was super excited and happy and decided to just leave it the way it was drawn! He also quoted a really reasonable price which I was happy to pay! Brian was also very professional and invited me back to his space so that I could see that all the needles were new! Not only was Brian super helpful and patient, but he made sure both me and my bf were comfortable, made small talk, and did exceptional work. He started out by saying he was really happy that was his first tattoo of the day since he really enjoyed doing bright and colorful flowers! I knew that was a good sign! :) He also answered all my questions on the shading and color choices and he went out of his way to match the colors I had in the reference photo on my phone. He went over and beyond the time with all the details and shading, outline, etc.... both me and my bf (also an artist) loved the tattoo!!!! He loves his art and his passion really shows! This Bostonian highly recommends Foolish Pride and thanks Brian for a kickass tattoo!!! I adore it! read more

We are so in love with JD's work & will NEVER go anywhere or TO anyone else! The beginning of March my family had to put our dog down; we had our baby for 14 years and losing him was beyond a loss. Foolish Pride Tattoo Co. was recommended to us by a friend & JD came to us by chance; & we are so lucky for that chance! JD took the utmost care of us: listened to what we wanted and knew exactly what to do, guided us through the tattooing process and made us feel comfortable - like he's known us for years. His skill is unparalleled and we refuse to see or go anyone besides him! His line work is excellent and his coloring is perfectly bright! His skill ranges from traditional to anything you can think of. JD is kind, knowledgeable, has such a big heart, and we are so thankful for him. When you want or need a tattoo - it's JD hands down. read more

I can't remember the name of my artist but her name I think started with a J. She's a smaller girl who's boyfriend also works at the shop. I'm completely disappointment in my tattoos. The line work is shaky and the shading is half assed. It seems like she cared more about what her boyfriend was doing over my tattoo. Wouldn't waste my time. She obviously used white to hide the mistakes in her line-work. And honestly I'm just severely disappointed in the work I received. read more

Foolish Pride Tattoo - My first tattoo from Foolish Pride. Still looks great! Thanks again Brandon! - Tattoo Near Me - St. Petersburg, Florida

Foolish Pride (formerly Tattoo Emporium) is one of the cleanest shops I've ever been in. I've been worked on by three different guys there out of six in my life time. The guys there, Fredo in particular, are some of the most laid back, jovial guys you wanna be around when you're getting work done. I'm a female with a sizable bust and have had to have my shirt off for a few sessions. I've never been made to feel uncomfortable, or anything like that. If you're worried about privacy, they have booths to shelter you from view of any waiting customers in the lobby. On top of talent, Foolish Pride has an array of body jewelry out front and enough artists to fit whatever style you may be seeking. Brandon, their piercer is good at what he does, makes sure to give you proper aftercare instructions and advises you on what's best for your piercing, not his wallet. The atmosphere of the shop is one that puts you at ease. There's some original artwork on the walls and there's normally a movie or music playing. To top it off, they're located in downtown St. Pete. So if you want to go get dinner, a movie or take in a show after you get tatted, you're in the perfect spot. read more

Anna is piercing goddess. This girl is legit. I went in to get my nose ring switched out. That is something super-basic that clearly isn't going to bring in a ton of money for her or the shop. It was the best piercing experience I have ever had (note: I've been pierced at big-name places like Brian Decker at Pure in Brooklyn and Venus Modern Body Arts in NYC). She was mad professional. She's a member of the APP (Association of Professional Piercers), so you know girlfrond doesn't fuck around. In fact, she just returned from their conference in Vegas. I respect that she is committed to furthering her education in her art. Anyhoo, I'm a snobby aesthete. She got that (plus, she has really good aesthetics). She switched out like 4 nose rings (and tapered my hole) before we found the perfect one. Anna offered opinions and was super-patient with me. She is a perfectionist and it shows. My new nose ring was perfectly installed, perfectly selected. She accurately predicted the amount of swelling that would happend bc we tapered my hole by selecting the correct jewelry that would fit when the swelling went down. I know switching out a nose ring is crazy basic in the grand scheme of bodypiercing. Anna's attention to detail, passion for her art, professionalism and good taste she demonstrated for such a simple procedure all indicate what a bad-ass piercer she is. Oh, one more thing. Anna is super-friendly and welcoming. I know some people are put off by tattoo shops (whatever. I care more about quality that somebody being friendly. What can I say? I'm a New Yorker), but errybody here was really nice. PS: I was shocked by how inexpensive this situation was. read more

I had my daughters nose pierced by Corina here recently. She was given specific instructions to not touch the piercing. The ball on the piercing fell off 4 days later. Corina was then on vacation and told to come us to come back in 2 weeks she'd pierce it again. So we did were told she no longer works there and they won't give me my money back. Waste of time and $$. Wasted 75 including tip. Go ELSEWHERE!!! read more

This is one of the best tattoo shops I've ever been to. I was referred by a friend from work a while ago, and I stopped in once for a Sailor Jerry benefit they were doing to help out a fellow artist. Although that was just a small piece I saw a lot of the artists' work and knew I wanted to come back. The shop has a very laid back atmosphere, and they're all very friendly and personable. For a very long time I've been obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe and always wanted a portrait done. I finally decided to take the plunge and ask artist Aaron Is to do it for me- I've seen his work and I've never seen more realistic portraits- so I trusted him to bring this to life for me. I have to say I've never been more pleased with a tattoo- it's unreal how much detail he put into it. So if you are ever considering portrait work in the Tampa/St Pete area, Aaron is your guy! And if you are considering any kind of tattoo, check out Foolish Pride. Lots of amazing artists who do quality work! read more

Got there early this Monday morning. Frank was able to take me right away. I'm visiting from Baltimore so I was skeptical not knowing the lay of the land, but I chose this place based on some online reviews. I also really liked the space--it looked clean, communal, and not tacky. My tattoo is bitchin'! I couldn't be happier. The whole experience was really chill and not-stressful. I'm very thankful and happy to take a bit of Fla back home with me. Great name for a shop btw. read more

He really made me feel at ease, showed so much passion in his work, and brought my tattoo to life!i got a portrait of my dog and it looks just like her! It's so realistic. I've had JD do multiple tattoos for me and this is the best shop I've been at with him. The staff is all very friendly and talkative so there's never a lull in conversation, along with a large group of very talented artists that can work with anyone who wants something new done well. JD has done several different styles with me from a realistic flag torn into skin to a set of cards with Harley Quinn on them. He's a great artist with a large variety of talents and can always find something to talk about if you're interested. Would highly recommend going to him, as he's done 8 of my tattoos. read more

To start off, the shop its self is not a bad place! It's very clean and organized and overall good atmosphere. My main problem is the staff. We acquired several days ago with an artist about several of us getting a tattoo. The artist Eric was super friendly and nice. We came back today a little over a week before we wanted to make the appointment. As soon as we walked in the girl who was at the counter seemed as if we were bugging her. Almost came off as "what do you want" attitude. We told her that we met with Eric and wanted to come back and get some information. Eric wasn't there which was okay but she proceed to act uninterested and as if she didn't know anything about the business. She wouldn't even look at what we wanted!! There is nothing worse then a tattoo shop acting judgmental. It's a same because the ARTIST lost out on 3 people getting large tattoos. It's a shame really. I've always bragged about this shop and have always gone there for every single tattoo I've gotten. After today I can say I probably won't go back. read more

Boy am I glad everyone else turned me down because Hawk is one of the best artist I've had the pleasure of working with. He was able to bring my vision to life and I couldn't be happier.
