The Beatles went through a big phase of mysticism and trancendentalism (is that a word)..anyway the…read moreinterest seemed genuine and not just a publicity stunt. In 1972 the London Hare Krishna temple, which was then at Bury Place near the British Museum, was getting much too small for the growing interest. George Harrison, feeling sympathetic towards the devotees, decided to ask a British devotee, Dhananjaya das, to choose a large property not too far from London. Several properties were investigated, but finally they settled on Piggot's Manor in Aldenham, near Watford, which has now been renamed as the famous Bhaktivedanta Manor. Prabhupada regarded George as his son and the relationship was very close. George lived here for a while and when Bhaktivedanta Manor was donated, Shrila Prabhupada said of George, Because he has given shelter to Krishna by providing this temple, Krishna will surely provide shelter for him.

The manor is a huge estate that was donated by George Harrison of The Beatles in the 1970s. When I was a kid and would come here they would have boat rides on the lake but with current health and safety considerations this is no longer possible. I like the gift shop and the Radha Rani bakery, tastes here are unique because all the milk used comes from their own herd of Jersey cows. A product have found nowhere else is Ahimsa cruelty free milk, I asked what the difference is and they explained even organic cows are slaughtered once the milk yield diminishes whereas these cows see out their days in fields they own in Kent.

I can hardly believe I was lucky enough to get tickets for being in the audience watching the…read moretaping of Strictly Come Dancing. Whilst waiting in the bar to go in order to our seats we were told that 1.6 million people had applied for tickets!!!!! i feel even more blessed as this was the first time I had applied for tickets and I only applied for a couple of dates. The nearest station is Elstree and Borehamwood station. From the station, walk out to the main road and turn right. It is about a 10 minute walk to the studio. The studio is on the right past a Tesco at a large roundabout. I stayed at the IBIS hotel nearly opposite the studios, just a 5 minute walk if that. They had parking included within the night rate. Great call to stay at the IBIS as it gave you a chance to go back and freshen up before the show. The procedure - You queue outside . There is no seating or places for shelter so as it was tipping it down I was grateful I took my umbrella. Queued for about 2 1/4 hours to have ticket authenticated. Get there early as there seemed to be seasoned folk who knew the score and took seats, flasks and blankets. The nearer to the front of the queue the lower the number the better the seat. Once ticket stamped you can leave and return back to the studio for recording. They have a bar in the marquee style waiting area and it is well organised. Like the ark you go into the studio 2 by 2, once recording has started you are not allowed to go to the bathroom . The set I was in was exactly as you see it on TV. I was seated in the first row on the top tier behind the judges, great view. You sit for at least 2-3 hours so make sure you go to the toilet first or it could be "a disaster darling" as Craig Revel Horwood would say. There is a break and then the taping continues after this. it was lovely to actually see the judges, dancers and celebrities personalities which is different to the persona they display on telly. The dancing was fantastic as was Jamie Cullum and Gregory Porter. I feel so lucky to have been selected for these Golden tickets and I urge anyone to have a go, go on you never no your luck. xoxo

I finally fulfilled my dream of being in a studio audience the other day which was AMAZING. Not…read morereally but I always wanted to do it an I did have a ton of fun. I guess other people could review this site as a studio for tv and movie crews to use, or people who work there can review its -crew and employee- only bars. The average Jane like me just gets tickets to tv shows. I specifically went to see Who wants to be a millionaire. (yes they are still filming this show :) They also are currently filming Smarter than a 10 year old. I am sure there are many more shows there, these are just the ones I know. You can take the train to the studios which are just North of London. The nearest station is Elstree and Borehamwood station. From the station, walk out to the main road and turn right. It is about a 10 minute walk to the studio and along the way are a ton of places to eat and grab drinks for standing in line. There is also a bus that goes from the station towards the studio, although I do not know the number. The studio is on the right past a Tesco at a large roundabout. You are made to queue outside which is fine but it was really hot and there is no shade and or places to sit. If it is raining, bring an umbrella because there is no way to be sheltered. The studio I was in had no air conditioning and you are not allowed to go to the bathroom once in the studio, however there is one on the lot after you get in. The set I was in had great seating and intimate views, although you sit for at least 2-3 hours, so schedule a butt massage after you leave. I sat in the front row behind the contestants, and in front of the contestant family, and had a camera in my face for the ask the audience portions of the show of which there were 3. My episode was filmed July 29th and is supposed to air the week before remembrance day. Watch for my television debut. I am the hot chick in the purple top.
