Stopped at this Food 4 Less on our way to Las Vegas. It's in a small shopping center in Barstow. Great pit stop for a bathroom run after a long ride. Bathroom was clean and was easy to access. The store is well organized and very clean. Aisle were very spacey with everything in its place. Bakery department offered so many freshly baked goods. I purchased a raspberry jelly roll. Ooooh so delicious. ...I haven't had one of those in years. Prices were great and and groceries clerks were friendly. This grocery store was a nice surprise on a long trip to Las Vegas and I highly recommend it. Especially if you need a quick bathroom pit stop, cold drinks, cold cuts and oh yeah delicious raspberry jelly rolls.

If your cashier's name is Evelyn, you can expect to stand in line for 20 minutes and be treated like rubbish.

My cashier Evelyn A. Was in an extremely sour mood. She kept on hoffing and puffing, while asking me how much the produce cost as well as what the produce was. Apparently she doesn't know what thyme is, and looking for the product number of garlic is too much to expect from her. She told the lady behind me to go to another lane because she had to use the restroom, and then got extremely agitated when there were more people coming up behind me because her light was still on. The worst part is that she literally threw me my receipt!!!! Worst service ever!! Here is a tip Evelyn... that little phone you have next to your register can be used to call your manager so that you can go to the bathroom and stop giving people attitude about it.

Just tried to come and make a purchase. They are supposed to be open until 12am but they decided to close early.

I had picked up a sheet with information on old Daggett from the Route 66 Museum in Barstow. Here's the short version. The original store burnt down in the Daggett fire of 1908. (the nearby buildings were also destroyed as well) But they rebuilt this place, and this became the first 'fire proof' building in the Mojave Desert. Fire proof due to the fact that the whole thing was re-built using a railroad carload of cement. (The roof too!) Back in the day, the place was one of few that exchanged gold dust and nuggets for cash that miners could spend. Later, in 1953, a safecracker got away with $1000.00 in gold dust and nuggets. But ya. Back over Columbus day weekend in 2017. I stopped in front of the place because it looked old. Then I read the paper and discovered it was actually old. Then I went in to buy a soda because it was kinda warm out. The guy behind the register was nice. The soda was cold. Boom. That's about how a convenience store run should be.

Upon entering the store the owner Joe made me feel comfortable with his warm greeting of welcome. For a small business they have good services and upon request will stock special items, such as favorite drinks or candy and snacks. You can rent a U-haul or car dolly. Pay your utility bill, send and receive money. Send small packages and even cash checks. So I suggest the next time your passing thru Daggett stop by Desert Market and say hello to Joe, Mic and Beckey. Dortha,

From the door I observed two co workers gathered around Russell appearing to be having a full on conversation. I preceded to look in the liquor section for some wine but to no avail. Planning on buying some ice I approached the checkout line where Russell was behind the register conversing with his friends. As a customer I felt slightly neglected as I waited and waited for them to wrap of their convo. After about 30 extra seconds of patiently waiting Russell turned in my direction without a smile or any eye contact towards me. Instead he decided to look away when I stated " do you have any wine"? Russell pointed towards the section I came from stating " if it's not over to there then we don't have it". I then kindly stated " does that mean you sell wine here or not"? Appearing agitated by my inquiry Russell again stated " if it's not over there then we don't have it". I thought hmmm that's rude. What kind of customer assistance is this? First I wasn't acknowledged with a simple hello upon entering the store , then while waiting to checkout I was totally ignored and had to wait until Russell decided to end his conversation with his co workers and help me as a customer. I requested a manager. Manager Loren appeared, and I was able to express the treatment of disregard exercised by Russell. Although it appeared to me as a conflict of interest and a slight lack of empathy shown by the manager I was at least able to report my complaint to her and which I was also able to obtain the cooperate office number. Overall I was dissatisfied with the customer service from this dollar general location. I hope it improves after this and I hope Russell gets spoken to as Loren stated she would. Peace to Michelle she was the only one who was kind and seem to have enjoyed doing her "job" helping people. Unfortunately It was not enough to suffice for RUSSELL's rude and discriminatory behavior towards me. This is a 0 in my book and I hope and pray that this situation is addressed. I shop here every week and my business is good every time. I didn't appreciate and also did not deserve to be treated as if I was less then any of Russell's friends whom I witnessed him being kind and pleasant to before our interaction. No customer who walks into this establishment deserves the treatment I received from Russell. For a second I thought wow does he not like the way I look? Did he not like my inquiry? Or did he plainly not feel like he working or assisting customers who spend their hard earned money with this establishment? All and all I was treated poorly by RUSSELL. Thank you for your time!
