It was warm, a little breezy, but the vibes were there and everyone was happy mingling, drinking, just a typical ATX night out on Rainy. Now yes, some of the charm has left. Little by little every few years something disappears, and something new comes in. The people make up for the "charm" feel. We remember what once was. Little houses that once held family dinners and birthday backyard parties are now bars. Gutted out of the family photos hanging on the walls, to neon signs barring a beer logo. Rainy Street is still charm for those that once knew it and hold it in our hearts. We make the charm because we knew, and we pass that vibe to the college kids (sorry, but you are still kids) that spend their whole weekend night letting lose and being just that, fun kids experiencing life, not corporate life, but life life. It's up to us mature Rainy Street goers to show these kids how it's done. IMO Rainy Street. Bar hoping at its bests. Charming street. Decorated for the season. Come at Christmas, it's a ball! Everything is walkable. Some really nice higher end restaurants have moved in. It's a nice place to start out your night. You will find college kids here. But you'll also see birthday party groups, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties just people having fun, enjoying life. You'll see mature, older men and women with their, "I'm still 28" in my mind. (Me, I'm that woman) They do have a small food truck area too. So when you're looking for something quick, give these food trucks a go. They are pretty good. And they have seating so you can chill, and get back at it. I only saw 1 parking lot. It was $50. For 3 hours. And $55 for 6 hours. Uber in, car pool, or find parking a block or 2 away. Come to Rainy Street. Spend the night here. Grab some dinner, a few cocktails, bar hop up and down the street. Be young, be a kid, life's short.

Remember how cute Rainey Street was? I loved the Container Bar. It was one of my favorites. I wish…read moreit were still there. Don't get me wrong, there are still a couple of places on Rainey I like to go to now and then but it's just not the same. It's so bizarre to me to see big buildings going up. All of the charm is gone. Not to mention it's a very touristy area. And honestly, if I were a tourist, I would want to see it as well. But again, more like it was back in the day.

But it was pretty hot out, and once the sun went down the party really started- there was upwards of 10 dogs when we left! The property is located out in Leander and is pretty rustic- the park is all dirt with lots of seating scattered throughout for humans (a fun vibe with mismatched chairs and tables of all styles and heights) and cute playground furniture for the doggos to run and jump on. There is plenty of tree shade as well, and water bowls set out for the pups. You check in at the bar and then can order drinks directly from a window in the dog park so you don't have to leave the fenced in park, which is nice. This dog park is super casual- no food served here, or cocktails. Just a nice straightforward (and reasonably priced) beer and wine menu. But really, what else do you need? Just some dogs, music (they had music playing) and a cold beer that comes with a cute coozie. The staff was so nice and really good with the dogs- they were there managing all the interactions and ensuring that nothing got tense. I really appreciated that. They do have doggie ice cream that you can purchase and have your dog eat outside of the park (no food allowed inside, makes a ton of sense). This place may not have jumbo screens and margaritas like some other dog parks- but that's fine by me for the relaxed and friendly vibe, reasonable prices, and staff that ensures all the dogs are safe and having fun! We can't wait to come back again- especially for one of their cool events! (pet psychics!)

Amazing all around…read more Whether you are a social golfer or a bit more serious. This is a fun 9-hole par three that is suitable for all skill levels. I spent five days in Austin and came back to the spot twice! Has the best vibes, great staff, cool swag (love the Sunday bag and country club shirts)and a great beverage selection. Depending on the time that you go, there might be a wait, so grab a drink and enjoy practicing chipping, putting, cornhole, or socializing. The course has fun billboards (Caddyshack and Ron ) and comical Greenskeepers. I was impressed by how nice the greens are. Honestly, much better than some of my local 18 public courses! Restrooms are clean and easy to access. Two unisex so plan accordingly :) I cannot emphasize enough, how amazing their customer service is. This is a great spot run by great people.

Disclaimer: Did not come to play golf, but it is definitely still on my Austin bucket list!…read more What I actually came to do was grab some discounted merchandise from the Sierra Madre women's golf brand sample sale to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. I also got a ton of free products from the Bloom Nutrition "booth". The waiting/gathering area was cute and I was able to get a spot by the office where folks sign up for a round. Based on what others told me that day, they had a large high school group come in & back up everyone else. The wait was several hours long. Next time they should have just closed the business for the whole day, half day, or just until the large group finished the course. This way others are not inconvenienced. Otherwise, I feel like it'd be a fun experience with great views and I can't wait to come here with family or friends!

When I was looking for things to do with a couple extra hours in San Antonio, the mission churches…read morecame up on a search. San Juan was a huge fortress-style that I happened to drive past, not knowing it was one of the churches on the mission path. If you're going to choose one of the churches that isn't the Alamo, this is the one most likely to come up in a search, since it's the largest of them. Walk around the outside and you'll see the "fortress" wall was actually the convent rooms. The actual church was large, but many of the visitors weren't respecting the space or those who were wishing to use the space for prayer. Just a lot of loud talking and people walking in the way of everything. Oh well, it didn't take a ton away from my experience, I just chose to leave the church a little sooner. This location will take a bit longer to walk through, so give yourself enough time to actually see everything you want to see here.

There's even the wells where they drew their water. You get to see the church from the outside as well as inside. There are interpretive signs throughout. Well-maintained; feel like you're back 100 years ago. It is right off a trail system that connects the parks through San Antonio. One small thing. We got there at 9:00 when they open - but the gift shop didn't open until 10:00.
