What a public drinking fountain!
Well, when I went, it was a pandemic going on, so they had them shut off. Nobody was drinking from them. It's kind of a bummer. I hope that this tradition isn't gone, but it doesn't look good for public drinking fountains it seems. This fountain was located in front of the newspaper's office where there was a big blackboard where they'd display the local soccer team's scores and everyone would gather there and celebrate the wins and drink lots of water from the fountain that has the city's shield on it, like the jersey.
This fountain is on the Las Ramblas, in the promenade in the center of the street. It's painted up like a letter box or a soccer jersey combined with a lamp post.
Hopefully, when this pandemic is all over, they'll turn the drinking fountain back on. There's supposed to be a ritual with it where you fall in love with the city over their magic water, but I think that just might be the sangria. read more
