Nice guy, does great work on crowns, BUT in my opinion he does unnecessary work. He recommended too many teeth to be crowned for one reason or another. After the story was same for 3 family members , I went and sought a second opinion before my next crown. That dentist said there was nothing wrong with tooth, as I suspected. I never did have problems with that tooth that he wanted to crown. I feel he is taking people for crown cash ins, unnecessary dental work. Buyer beware. read more

Well, I have to say I'm not really one to review any businesses, and as a business owner myself I strive to keep the star ratings up and keep my customers happy . unfortunately this morning I have to write to let the potential client know I was coming in for an appointment for a teeth cleaning this morning and was turned away after racing down the freeway from Costa Mesa to Lake Forest . Unfortunately there was an accident on the 405 fwy and it caused unusual traffic . I had called (Bee )the front office manager to let her know I was running 10 minutes behind so she can notify the hygienist because of an accident . She (bee) had told me that as long as I was there only late 10 minutes I would be fine. Well when I arrived it was 13 minutes late by time I parked and was blocked in parking lot by a delivery truck by the fast food restaurant in the parking lot . So I wasted my time and gas and all driving down here this morning trying to stay the loyal patient I was . I guess I was unaware that the dental hygienist runs the whole show atDr. Follico's Dental practice in Lake Forest, California . Maybe it's part of getting rid of patients cause they have too many ?!!!!It Really sucks cause Dr. Follico himself in my opinion is an awesome dentist ! Dr.Follico has a great sense of humor and his expertise to boot. but then again his anal dental hygienist ! But also funny cause I remember getting here at times and having to wait cause they weren't ready!!! Oh also there is the time I had an appointment and could be seen cause the medical air compressor went down . But I guess in there books it's ok when it's on then!! Like I said Dr. Follico has lost a good customer after many many years !! Little do they know I had a mini stroke (Tia) a few days ago . Well just another stress to take out of my life driving all the way from Costa Mesa to lake forest for a dentist . One afternoon I got that dreaded feeling, a TOOTHACHE! I knew I wouldn't be able to make it through the night with the level of pain I was experiencing. I was a little after 3pm so options were limited. Boom! I found a dentist open til 7pm. From the moment I walked in the door it felt like I had been a patient in this office for years. They got me right in and took care of me. Dr. Follico himself if the sh*t! I have never encountered a more laid-back, relatable dentist in my life. Worst dentist I have EVER gone to. Last year I went in for a cleaning and he suggested to have three crowns replaced. I trusted him. Afterwards I had considerable pain and sensitivity to all three teeth and he immediately told me he had a friend that does root canals. I decided to wait and see if things got any better. Over a year later all three teeth are still in a lot of pain and cannot eat on one side of my mouth. I went to another reputable dentist to ask for advice and unfortunately he said the teeth were ruined and indeed I will probably need three root canals. I would not recommend Dr. Follico to anyone! I've been coming here for four years, my wife convinced me to try them before we got married. I've had bad dental experiences in the past other dentist offices, and still sometimes feel a little anxious when I know I have an appointment coming up. However I have never had anything less than an absolutely perfect experience coming here for the last four years. Every single person on staff here is the kindest nicest and most professional people, I get in and out quickly and even if I have to have a cavity filled or something else that typically causes pain there so gentle and nice and I very rarely feel any discomfort. I've been going to Dr. Follico for 6 or 7 years now, and I am extremely happy with his work! On the recommendation of a friend, I originally went to him to get top front vaneers, since I heard he was really good with those. As promised, they turned out amazing!! People are really surprised when they find out I had those done since they look so incredibly natural. And I also have a bridge in the front that is completely undetectable. Based on his amazing work on my vaneers, I've also had him replace several of my old crowns and fillings. And since he knows I hate novocaine shots (who doesn't!) he talks me thru it all the way and is very gentle. His staff, B, Kathy and Sara are very nice and friendly, I can usually get an appointment very quickly, and I've never been left waiting for my appointment to start. My review is way past due. Dr. Folico is a stand up honest man that takes pride in his work which I consider to be art. I was in a car accident many years ago that knocked my teeth out and I had to wear a retainer for 10 plus years before I was able to get permanent teeth. I did not have insurance at that time and Dr Folico gave me a cash deal to help me fix my mouth. I 1st saw him back in 2004, That is when he blessed me with his artwork. I no longer had to cover my mouth with my hand when I smiled, he gave me a smile, a permanent smile that I was proud of and still am to this day. He built a bridge That involved 6 front top teeth And still to this day that bridge is holding strong. I have since moved to the state of Missouri and have seen multiple dentists that are absolutely amazed by his work and how he was able to create a bridge that would hold as strong as it has in my mouth with as many teeth as it involves. It has been over 17 years since he created this masterpiece and I am actually getting ready to fly to California And hopefully be worked into his schedule. Doctor Folico is not about the money he is about his artwork... The end result will only prove it. And the couple people who gave him 1 star... you must have had endo problems or something of that nature because Folico's artwork is a masterpiece and he would NEVER create art he wasn't proud of!!! read more

A couple weeks ago I called Dr. Follico's office concerned about a toothache I was having and heading out of town for the weekend. His office said to come right it to have it looked at. When I arrived they had already pulled my chart, seen that there was already a crown on that tooth and he was suspicious it might need a root canal. They had already called an Endodontist nearby (Dr. Cavalieri) to see if they could get me in. Dr. Follico took a quick xray, and it showed I did indeed need the root canal. They called the Endodontist back, confirmed I would be coming and even sent them my insurance information. I was at Dr. Cavalieri's office within 15 minutes, had the root canal done (5 stars as well) and went on the enjoy my weekend with no pain. Dr. Follico and his staff are always wonderful to work with, friendly, on-time and an overall easy experience for all my dental procedures. read more

Had to give one star to leave a review but he doesn't even deserve that. Dr Follico is very friendly & funny but he took me for a ride. A month after he put in my bridge, I had pain & after I went to see him, he sent me to an endodontist who charged me $2,000 to redo a root canal. Dr Follico had used up all my insurance for the year & $2,000 out of pocket for the bridge so the root canal redo was all out of pocket as well. This bridge was never right & hurt to chew on it so I avoided that side of my mouth as much as possible. During that time I thought I felt the bridge moving but I wasn't sure. Eventually it was clear that it was moving so I went to see Dr Follico. He said I needed a post to hold the bridge in place. I didn't question him even though I wondered why there was no post holding it in already. He also said my insurance wouldn't pay for the post because they wouldn't cover anything to do with this bridge until I had it for five years. So another $450 out of pocket. I wondered how he could take my bridge off, install a post in my mouth & replace the same bridge since what was under the bridge had now changed. They always take molds of anything that will have a crown or bridge & have them made using the mold. I was back after a couple of weeks because the bridge came loose again. Dr Follico wanted nothing to do with me. He didn't offer to remake my bridge correctly. All he did was try to get me to have a root canal on another tooth & make an even longer bridge which of course I would have to pay for out of pocket. I never went back. He takes shortcuts & hopes for the best & then dumps you when he can't milk your insurance any more. I had the previous bridge in my mouth for more than twenty years without it ever coming loose. It wasn't great looking & I was having pain, which is why I decided to replace it. I worried that there was a problem with the root canal tooth that was one of the anchors for the bridge & told Dr Follico it was a concern before going through this. He assured me it would be fine & I trusted him. Stay away from this man. He is dishonest & greedy. At least do yourself a favor & get a second opinion before letting him touch you. read more
