An awesome thrift shop whose proceeds go towards the Humane Society....how could I NOT give this…read moreplace 5 stars??!! I really love coming here whenever I can, you never know what kind of treasures you might find, and if in doubt about something, I just get it anyways knowing that the money I spend here goes towards helping out homeless kitties and puppies...a solid win in my book! They have limited hours because they are volunteer-run, but are open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11-3pm. When you drive up, the thrift store is to the right of the main Humane Society entrance doors, and you will see the racks of clothes and books and kids stuff just waiting to be rummaged through! They usually have lots of clothes, shoes, and various household wares, but you can really get almost anything here depending on what people have donated. During the holidays, they have great festive items as well. If you go downstairs, this area is for furniture that has been donated, such as desks, bookshelves, tables, even beds! If you are in a browsing mood, this is definitely the place! Their prices are wonderful as well...a few dollars for most clothes items, and the same for household wares. Sometimes nice shoes or appliances are $10 or $15, but everything is heavily discounted and I have always left here feeling like I scored! One day I got a punching bag for the whopping price of $5, and I saw legit backpacking backpacks with external frames for very cheap! No matter what you are after, or if you don't even know what you need, the No-Flea Boutique is the place to look for it! Definitely go here for a great second-hand shopping experience! I love it!

I am always down for exploring a thrift store, flea market, or consignment shop and when I spied Encore, I was ecstatic. We climbed the short staircase outside the colorful building, opened the door, and emerged into a small treasure trove of new and gently used shoes, clothing, accessories, and home decor. There was so much to look at and so little time! Beautiful designer shoes, sexy dresses, exquisite pieces of jewelry as well as casual wear. Prices were reasonable and there was something to fit every budget. Although I didn't find the hoop earrings I was hoping for, I saw many other nice things and wished we'd had more time to try things on and explore the shop. I left with a lovely faux pearl bracelet for $5. The owners are a couple who relocated to St. John from the mainland. The husband, Mr. Needham, was tending shop when we dropped in. He is a nice gentleman, well-spoken and welcoming. When I return to St. John, I'll make sure I have several hours to spend in Encore BEFORE I go to the beach.

Last evening, I was sold a moldy bag by Vendors Plaza!…read more It wasn't until later when I opened it that I noticed there was a pungent "petting zoo" smell. I eventually figured out it was mold and it had gotten on most of what I had with me on my trip by then. So I will be tossing and replacing everything including my luggage when I get home I guess. Hundreds of dollars worth of stuff I'll need to have replaced, including some sentimental things. My flight left St. Thomas this morning, so there's nothing I can do about it. Otherwise, I would go and ask for my money back. I am now traveling back home with all kinds of stuff that has mold and I don't know what to do about it. I considered tossing my things in SJU, but I was advised not to do something that can't be undone like that. I did email the St. Thomas health department and mention that I was sold a moldy bag in Vendors Plaza and that that's not only unethical business practice, but a health concern. While traveling all day, I have felt sick -- most certainly from exposure to the mold. Vendors Plaza cannot be selling people merchandise that has mold in it. That cannot be acceptable. If I return to St. Thomas, I will not be spending any more of my money at Vendors Plaza!
