She was so kind and patient and helped me understand the way a piano works and what I should look for in a Piano before making a purchase. I was then introduced to the various brands on offer like Kawai and Yamaha. I explained I had seen a Roland and interested in purchasing that or an equivalent model in another brand. Over the phone, they discussed 4 different models and helped me select and narrow down my choice. I am also offered a guaranteed price beat on any competitors product and they are also going to offer free shipping inspite of me living in a second floor apartment with no lift. That is truly amazing. I cannot wait to go in store and test the different piano's to feel which one suits me best. I am more than impressed with their telephonic service and if their in store service is just as good, this place will definitely get my 5 stars!

That is why I suggest hiring one...which is exactly what I've done. Hutching Pianos is positioned at the top of Edgecliff Road and you've probably driven past it a hundred times without noting it exists. It's a tiny room which showcases a variety of upright and baby grand pianos. It's a great place to try and test what you like and the person behind the counter knows everything about pianos - so ask away. I hired an upright - wish I could afford a babygrand (one day) - its cost me $40 a month and is a wonderful way for me to get my music fix without the commitment. A few things to note is you must pay for piano delivery there and back - which can be costly - so make sure you include it in your budget. Of course i think its better value to buy a piano instead of rent - but if thats not an option for you - may I suggest you look into getting yourself a monthly piano plan.

In the end, the reality couldn't be further from that little pipe dream but I digress! It was a good bit of fun looking at all the guitars that would've made me look cool. Amps, keyboards, pianos, drum kits and pretty much anything else you can think of or would need if that dream had gone any further than my thoughts. Including the poxy little headphones I was after as mine had stopped working. The dream of rock stardom to the reality of some headphones for my ipod all happened at The Carlingford Music Centre. These guys turned up, packed the truck as tight as anything, protected everything, pointed out my previously damaged furniture from the last mover before they moved it which I already knew about and did not stop working from the time they arrived to our job to the time they had unloaded on a hot day. They had no breaks at all! Professional to the extreme and very well priced hourly rate compared to ANYONE professional. (I was so impressed at the price I gave them a tip!) They earned it.
