I've eaten 1,000+ cheesesteaks across Philadelphia and ordered hundreds through Uber Eats. I know…read morewhat a cheesesteak should look and taste like. What arrived from Geno's last night was an absolute embarrassment. Let's be honest. Pat's and Geno's aren't exactly the gold standard for cheesesteaks in Philly, but they're iconic for a reason, and I've always considered them capable of putting out a decent sandwich with quality meat. Last night changed that. Both sandwiches arrived as waterlogged mush. Not a little soggy. Not slightly compromised by delivery. I'm talking bread that tasted like it had been dunked in a bucket of water. A proper Philly roll should maintain its structure and chewy exterior during delivery. Plenty of other shops manage this just fine. There is simply no excuse for this. And the pizza steak sauce? Bright red, ketchup like, and tasting like straight canned tomato sauce that hadn't been cooked or seasoned. Completely lifeless. I've had hundreds of cheesesteaks delivered around this city, and I've never had two arrive in such disgraceful condition. For a place with Geno's name recognition, this was shockingly bad. Two soggy sandwiches, terrible sauce, and zero excuse. First Uber Eats order from Geno's, and almost certainly my last.

When I saw an event invite for "Grocery Bingo" at this fire station, I first wondered what Grocery Bingo was, exactly. I've heard of Designer Handbag Bingo, but Groceries? Must check this out, especially as it benefits a fire company. Fellow Yelper Dee M joined me, which was lots of fun! We arrived early, as the doors opened. We ha e learned from experience to get to a game early for good seats. The station looks very new and well taken care of. Everything was neatly stored. Bathroom was immaculate. We played in a truck bay - all the trucks were parked outside. The floor was polished and clean. There's plenty of free parking in a lot they share with the Lazaretto Ballroom And the Lazaretto Quarantine Station. No problem parking even with an event at the Ballroom. The volunteers were all super nice, the cookies Dee bought were delicious. Grocery Bingo means when you win you can go up to a table where there are all kinds of groceries and choose one item. The "special" games (additional cost) had either bundled groceries - a box with breakfast foods, or sheet cakes. The "grand" prize of a TV for the last "special" game. They were generous with their wins. They had a 50/50 and a large raffle. We had a blast. I am continuing my "winning absolutely nothing at Bingo" streak and I am fine. I go for the fun and to support first responders. I'd definitely play there again. Nice people, generous with number of winners, great cookies, clean and neat space. Well done.

Hot appetizers included mozzarella sticks, tater tots (high school flashback,) and some kind of spicy samosa thing. All awesome choices. Oh, and dinosaur chicken nuggets for the picky kids among us. A good choice. A cold veggie tray rounded out the apps. Again, perfect, but uninspired. The main course was a selection of pizza choices. The kids were totally stoked with this option. There were several cake choices for dessert. There was something for everyone. As we were finishing our meals, a guy showed up to make balloon animals for the kids - they thought of everything! There was even a tv with the Eagles game on so the die hards among us wouldn't have an excuse to be a no-show. I'd have given it five stars, but Steve just wasn't as witty as he normally is. ;-)
