I have been going to Focus PT for about 4 weeks now. I had ACL surgery 5 weeks ago and I'm so happy with this team. Nick is my therapist and he's the best! He encourages me and pushes me at the same time. I have made a HUGE improvement in just the short weeks I have been in therapy. I still have a bit to go, but I actually look forward to my visits because I improve after every session. The whole crew is very welcoming, they remember you and you can actually tell that they care about their patients. You get a family feel from the minute you walk through the door. I have been to a few other therapy places in SCV and nothing compares to Focus. You really get one on one with your therapist and they really study your needs and improvements. This is your place if you are looking for a positive experience while going through a difficult time with injury. They lift your spirits and make you feel good about what you are facing. I recently joined Focus and have been impressed with the services here. Lelani at the front desk is efficient and friendly. Due to my health condition, sometimes I have difficulty to make it to the therapy, they provided me with empathy and support when it happed. My therapist Sam is competent, knowledgeable, diligent and caring. He checks on me constantly and offers water to me throughout the session. Sam always works with me till the last minute for each session to make sure I get the most of the hour. I am motivated to come and participate. From the minute you walk in and are greeted by Leilani or Ashley, to the minute you leave you feel, and you know you are important and cared about. Everyone in there is friendly and helpful. I made an appointment on a Monday and spoke to a physical therapist and gave him all my insurance information. I received a Thursday appointment. I drove 25 minutes to this facility and when I got there, the receptionist advised me they did not take my insurance. I told her I gave the information to the physical therapist and why didn't they call me and advise me that my insurance was not taken. The physical therapist next to this receptionist said oh Adam said we can take it. Well either you take my insurance or you don't take my insurance. but it would've been nice to know ahead of time by receiving a call that this would not be the case. The receptionist was extremely condescending and wanted me to get a referral from my doctor. I said you don't take my insurance so why do you need a referral? Then she said to me would you like to make another appointment? Her attitude was as if she was speaking to an idiot and she was the only smart one in the room. I told her no, I would not like to make another appointment with this office as they didn't even know whether or not they took my insurance. The physical therapist said he never heard of my insurance, which was Aetna. That alone tells you something about this place. read more

Adam, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and uses proven techniques as well as the latest innovations, (including the "Neubie") to ensure great results. I walked in needing to use a cane, and with only a few sessions put the cane away. My Doctors were surprised and shocked at my recovery, as was I. No one thought I would ever be cane free. Adam has always treated me with great care, and has got me up and going more than once over the years. Focus Physical Therapy was an overall amazing experience. I had my ACL reconstruction surgery and my Dr. recommended me to Focus. Adam and his staff are kind and true professionals. They were attentive with my needs and made sure I received the proper exercises to get my leg strength back. I was surprised to find that Adam was Neufit certified which was a huge plus! Other places I have seen do not offer this unique and in my opinion essential piece of equipment. I was skeptical at first but after a few visits it worked wonders. My nervous system was balanced out and stress levels dropped. It even helped alleviate my Asthma symptoms! It helped optimize my overall health so my body could focus on healing from my surgery. So very disappointed in this place, as I have been completely shoved aside by Adam with him taking absolutely no responsibility for his inattentiveness and neglect. Months ago, during my last visit there, I gave him the heads up that I would be receiving stem cell injections and wouldn't be coming in for a bit, since I needed to recover (I did this same thing about 4 months prior, and there were no issues). 4 weeks go by (same amount of time that it took last time), and I call in to make an appt, and Madison (the front desk girl) stated that Adam discharged me. She informs me that I just need to get a new prescription and I can just come back in, assuring me that it'd be simple to get right back in to continue my treatment. So, then it takes me 3 weeks to get a doctor's appt, get a new prescription, and then she can't put me on the schedule and she is unable to get me an appt since Adam needed to book a full hour for an evaluation, so here we are into NOVEMBER. I'm not so happy at this point, but go with it. My treatment areas are my neck, hip, and low back (yea, I have a lot of injuries and so getting proper treatment is imperative). We book 9 appts after the eval appt, to get me going, as that is how many appts I have left according to my insurance. My out of network deductible is met as well and I don't know if that has something to do with how I'm being treated, but it was met back in July, and I haven't been treated well from them since. Also, why did they discharge me without even a phone call after I had been a patient with them for quite some time. Maybe the money goes to them later when it's 100% paid by insurance, since they no longer receive my copay each time? Also, an evaluation appt costs more. Anyways, my eval appt is meant to be today (Nov 3rd), and an important work obligation has come up and I let them know of this to cancel on Monday (you have to cancel before a 24 hr period or else they will charge you). I let Madison know of this and she dismissively tells me I must cancel all of my appts and can't get me back in for an eval until thanksgiving. Her response is a very rude "well I don't know what else to tell you". Mind you, I had JUST had an eval on all my body parts prior to Adam randomly discharging me when he knew I would be having my injections. Now I can't come in after waiting months and months for an eval just because of this? ALSO, Adam had done an eval on me in a thirty min bracket of time before. It also showed up on my insurance that he charged for a full hour anyway. I wouldn't even mind if he did this now since I no longer have a copay, but it seems sketchy that now is when he refuses to do this again. Again, I'm certain is a money thing. Now, he's put me in a situation where he should have never discharged me, and condescendingly let's me know "well you could have had the appt we made for you, but you canceled it". An appt that I never should need an eval for because HE discharged me. Then, he tells me he can put me on for the end of November or December like it's no big deal. Its so insane that these people don't understand that we are patients that need these appts because we are in actual pain. Like just waiting for months is all good. Are you kidding me? I write this at 4am right now because I can't sleep as my neck is killing me and has been for MONTHS. Anyways desperate for an appt, I keep pointing out that he's been able to do an eval in the regular 30 minutes (I also later saw that he had charged for the full hour without telling me, but I let it go), but he refuses to do it, since it's too many body parts. I ask if we can just split it up. If he's able to do 3 body parts in an hour, why can't he do one in one appt then? Still refuses and his response is just "I'm sorry for the miscommunication". There was no miscommunication on my part, as I made him aware of exactly what I had needed to, and he trapped me in this mess for which he takes no responsibility nor tries to properly resurrect the situation.He just keeps trying to push me back so that my appts flood into next year and I have to pay out of pocket all over again. His brochures in the office state how much he actually cares for his patients. Sure, as long as you can maximize his pockets by any means possible. Anyone that does this doesn't truly care for his patients. We're just a number to him. Don't go this place unless you want to be left in the dust after you've met your deductibles. read more

I've always had issues with my knee, but about 2 years ago my kneecap started dislocating during everyday activities. I thought it would just go away, but it kept happening every 6 months or so. I finally had enough and saw Dr. Kantor and he referred me to Focus PT for treatment. This was by far the best outcome! My therapist was Rebecca and she was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I spent about 3 months coming here, 2x a week, and learned so much on how to strengthen the muscles that hold my knee in place and how to prevent further dislocation. It was always a joy to come in as everyone was always so nice and easy-going. The receptionist, Maddie, always greeted me by name and was very helpful when calling to reschedule. I also had the owner, Adam, for a session when Rebecca was on vacation and he was very attentive and helpful even though I wasn't his regular patient. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone and am so happy with my time here. My strength has definitely improved and I haven't had any issues since starting these strengthening and balance exercises. Upon discharge, I was provided an at-home workout plan and a lot of advice on what to do if anything changed. This place is an absolute gem! read more

I went to Focus Physical Therapy after I had a neck spasm and was simultaniously diagnosed with calcified tendinitus in my right shoulder (something I had been suffering with, undiagnosed, for over 10 years). When I came to Rebecca (my physical therapist at Focus), I was a mess! I could barely move my right arm without A LOT of pain and my neck was still in pain due to the recent neck spasm. Words cannot express my gratitude to Rebecca for the improvement I underwent under her care. I no longer have neck pain and I have gained back a majority of the range of motion in my right arm (which I thought could NEVER happen after suffering for so many years with a stiff shoulder). Focus Physical Therapy consists of a small staff: Katlyn, the receptionist (she's sweet) and two physical therapists, Adam and Rebecca. In my opinion, the small staff provides the opportunity for much more personalized, quality care. If you are looking to avoid overcrowded 'physical therapy mills', you've come to the right place. Another thing that sets them apart from other places is a device they use called the Neubie (a.k.a. NewFit). The Neubie is a relatively new neuroscience rehabilitation device that uses cutting-edge methods of neuromuscular re-education (you can read more about it here: https://www.neu.fit/hom). It's different and, in my opinion, far superior to the more commonly used TENS devices many other physical therapists use. Also, Focus Pysical Therapy is one of only two physical therapy locations in that have it in California, which makes this place even more of a gem. Rebecca immediatly started giving me treatments using the Neubie, along with some rounds of ultrasonic therapy on my shoulder and gentle excercises, and I experienced a significant breakthough with my shoulder pain and range of motion in just three weeks -- which even surprised some of my doctors! Usually that quick of an improvement (not involving surgery) is unheard of for a severe case of calcified tendinitus like I had. I really credit my success to both the Neubie and Rebecca's expert care.
