I explained that I was a student and that I have been getting half a head of highlights for at least 4 years now so I didn't want to spend so much money on something I did not want. Rootz was within a decent walking distance and they were very accommodating fitting me in on the day I wanted and at a decent time. The staff were very friendly, knew exactly what they were doing, were very attentive and did a fantastic job. I am so pleased with the results the hairdresser did I will definitely be going back there next time I need a trim. What made it even better was the reasonable pricing, my hair was of such a good quality but only about two thirds of the price I would pay for the same thing elsewhere. Her attitude within the first few minutes was outrageous as the customer I'm not supposed to feel as if they are doing me a favor. It's not as if there aren't thousands of hairdressers around the UK. I was very tempted to walk within the first few minutes, but as I was a few minutes late I was prepared to let first impressions slip. I thought they could give advise on hair colour etc but on this occasion I was wrong, she couldn't even be bothered to talk to me, instead of my usual blonde I was thinking about different colour's of brown etc but it was evident at the start of our conversation she had no enthusiasm and in my opinion any talent. So I kept it simple for her and ask for my usual blonde. The trainee's showed more professionalism than the stylist and understandably they are learning but with people skills she demonstrated they would learn anything . I have never met a more self obsessed, arrogate hairdresser and I have met hundreds. In all fairness to the rest of the stylists and martin's team they were professional and in my opinion it would be better to get rid of the deadwood as it is fetching the reputation of the Martin Brett Hair Shop down. The salan was very well decorated, a llittle chic without trying to hard, and certainly not drab by any means. I'd had to rebook three times due to life happening, but they were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I'd had to drive round the block four times before I was able to park. This is the only drawback. I will not take away a star though, I was very happy and pleased and I am not easily impressed by hairdressers. They sorted a problem I've been trying to communicate to my usual hair dresser. Went in to get highlights and a cut…read more I showed Richard two clear pictures of how my hair normally is and he first off started looking for a highlight cap - something that I could have done at home for free! When I suggested he use foils he did, but only highlighted certain areas of my head, I thought I would leave it in the hands of the expert. 30 minutes go by and he started to trim my hair - he took great care in the cut which was great - but was a bit over eager with the clippers and now is shorter than I have ever had before - when I asked to not take much length off the back and sides. I walked out of the salon and saw my reflection in the window - I looked like a zebra - where I normally have golden blonde subtle highlights all over to make my fine hair seem fuller - I had platinum blonde streaks through my hair and no hair on the back of my head. Don't get me wrong - Richard was all about the customer service and he was a pleasure to spend an afternoon with - but I was so unhappy with the results. After washing my hair at home and styling it as I normally would - I drove straight to the supermarket and bought a brown dye to cover it all up. I have a really important weekend this weekend and instead of having a really nice haircut, I'm wishing I hadn't bothered risking a new salon.
