Most of the…read moretime I don't participate on this since I usually bring my own lunch but this time, based on the email they sent with menu, I decided to give them a chance. Chinese, hot dogs, sliders, fresh juices but the one that called my attention was a poke bowl. Looking around the trucks to see where this dish was, I finally found Starfish Food Truck, it was the second to last and I was glad I didn't just give up and turned back. When I looked at their menu there were many things I thought I would like: Calamari, Conch fritters, fish tacos, corn on the bob... But I went for the poke and stuck to my decision. The description of the dish included mango (I don't like it) and rice. I asked if I could remove those to ingredients and keep everything else: seaweed, cucumbers, edamame, carrots and pickled onions. Without hesitation the guy cooking said "absolutely, what I'll do is add extra tuna so you don't stay hungry without the rice". How cool is that?!? In about 5 minutes, I had my poke, that looked more like a salad at this point, really nice plated, and absolutely delicious. They also had fresh starfruit juice that my friend bought and said it reminded her of the one her mom made when she was little. She also ordered the cracked conch po'boy and said it was amazing! On top of the quick and friendly service, they are eco-conscious serving everything in recyclable materials, including utensils. Glad I decided to give the trucks a chance today.

There is nothing more satisfying than spreading the word about a really good mom and pop business. I had the pot stickers and the seaweed salad. It was delicious, hot and fresh. I'm coming back here just for the pot stickers alone. The lion fish looked like it was out of a five star restaurant. You can't get better than this. The butterfly tea was a unique mix of tea from Indonesia mixed with lemonade and turns out a light purple color.

With various toppings such as mojito (garlic, olive oil, cilantro and lime), bacon, pulled pork, aioli, taco (ground beef, chipotle mayo and cheese), disco (mozz and gravy)... you get the idea. There are about 6-8 varieties, which changes once in a while. I was undecided between the poutine and the mojito, and when I asked the owner, Manny, he was kind enough to do a split for me, so I get to try both. The fries are good, with a good crunchiness on the outside, and the inside isn't mushy. Mojito is certainly interesting with good acidity, poutine is okay, I like my curd squeakier. I was glad I got a half-and-half because if I were to eat the whole thing of one flavor, it would be too salty or too acidic. If I had some food, or beer to go with it it would be perfect, but then they don't sell beer at Young Circle.

For the Fondue Dog we got the veggie sausage but we weren't 100% sure whether the sausage we got was actually veggie, which is either good news or bad news depending on information we'll never know. We also got the sweet potato fries and the loaded regular fries with fondue cheese and pulled pork. The fried pickles and cheese were sweet pickles, which aren't my favorite, but were still pretty good, though the napkins they were served with kind of got stuck to the cheese; maybe ask if they can skip those for yours. I ordered it on a whim at the valero gas station. giant russian dude Andrei peeked behind the window of the food truck in my broken Russian "can I have a shawarma, or burger whatever easiest" Andrei said "you want beef shawarma. " I didn't argue. 10 mins later after filling up the car I guess it was my turn because he handed me the wrap and I nearly fell over from the weight. Went home my wife was thankfully napping on the sofa as I quietly tried to get it out of the back and took a bite. Amazing. Rush of flavors and sustenance I've never felt before flooded my brain and soul. I then went into the the bathroom for what seemed like an hour. But the shawarma wouldn't get smaller no matter how many chomps I took out of it.. I then gave up found my biggest glass Tupperware and put in the fridge to eat for the next month. WOW.
