The manicure was very good. She talked me into the Essie gel polish which is longer lasting - and indeed two and a half weeks later it's still going strong! I've visited on two different occasions, once for a shellac manicure + regular pedicure and once for a new set of acrylics and a pedicure. The male nail technician there is definitely more thorough - my nails took twice as long (!!!) to get ready as my friend's did. However, I still noticed that the size and shape of some nails are a bit off. They don't look bad at all (in fact, I've gotten several compliments), they're just not perfect. I am willing to come back for the same job regardless. Their pedicures aren't great, and I will probably go somewhere else for that next time. The lady was rushing through the job and it got uncomfortable. The water was way too cold, even when I asked for it to be heated. A 30 second "massage" was included. Not worth €35. They offered tea or coffee while we waited for the polish to dry. They don't accept cards (there's an ATM in the supermarket across the street). Walk-ins are fine.

Most of the businesses seemed *medical* and very high-end with fees to underscore their specialness. I kept looking online and found Crystal Nails. Best thing is that you can walk-in, which I did, and I was told to come back in 30 minutes. When I returned, they took me fairly quickly. The pedicure was heaven, and the person doing the job was great. I then had a manicure, which was also excellent. If you find yourself in Amsterdam needing a nail salon, I highly recommend Crystal Nails. You should know in advance that they only take cash, and no credit/debit cards.

But in all seriousness, is pretty much a local hole in the wall place. I guess if you've never been to an actual professional salon, some people would think its a decent basic nail place.. Not even decent.. well for one, I am a professional nail tech myself. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt and gave it a try on a whim. I've been traveling for two weeks and needed mainly my foot scrubbed and massaged. There was also a huge language barrier and all I asked for was the pedicure. Which as advertised €20. I also had gel polish on from a prior treatment. (Was an extra €5 to remove.. ok sure.) They had no idea how to take it off except to scrape and file the gel off my nails down thin to where it was hurting and still is. The nail wasn't even buffed. It's rough as you'll see.. the cuticles not trimmed.. but honestly I was scared for her to even cut me so whatever. The skin around my nail beds is sensitive from so much filing, they trimmed my toe nails down very short to the quick, uneven and jagged.. I couldn't even complain. They didn't understand. So much happened and it was almost comical but traumatizing.. I remained calm and tried telling her I didn't need anymore servicing, ended up paying €31 instead of €20. PROS: None honestly.. By the end of my service, one lady there who is Thai did speak English.. (too late for me) CONS: It is an EXTRA €2 for Polish, no base or top coat either (Not included in pedi service) EXTRA €4 for a 5 minute Massage (also not included in the €20 service) €8 for 10 minute foot massage. And no gel/shellac options either. No actual pedicure chairs with tub, just a plastic cleaning bucket they bought, wrapped with plastic and filled with a little warm sink water.. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY unless your a minimalist of such things and just don't care about your toes nails.

I would suggest stopping in here first, before you go blowing your money somewhere else. Shopping for black hair products in the Netherlands is no easy task but there are a few spots that do cater to kinky, frizzy, thick and fine hair. It's not America or London, but these spots are as good as it gets here. When I first came to Holland I had no clue of where to go for hair products but I am proud say that I have become more accumulated to my environment, so I have no problems finding a lot of stores. In the beginning, I blew money on bad curler irons and blow dryers, then I started finally running across stores that made more sense to me. What I like about this store is that it provides a lot of top notch hair appliances for all women and their clientele is very diverse. I was really happy with their inventory. The prices are reasonable and fair, you won't find any shady prices. Yes you will find some items a little higher in Amsterdam as oppose to the USA because of the tax difference but I definitely can tell when a shop is just being down right greedy. The customer service is very friendly and customer oriented. The answer to your question may be in here. You may find a lot of hair products possibly here and if it's not in this shop, than I would suggest to check out a few other places around the corner. However, so far this place is my favorite spot. I was really impress with this store inventory. They had some great hair products primarily for women of color but they also provide hair products for all women.

It was all done clean and quickly which was great as well. My only complaint for stars is that when she was razoring off the dead skin on my feet she sliced my little toe a bit.
