This is also where Pedagogen is located - one of the institutes of Gothenburg University. There is a café inside but it is not any cheaper as you could think being a students' café. Best selection is around Magasinsgatan or along Västra Hamngatan, but don't forget to take any of the side streets. That being said, this is not a very pleasant area for recreation or just strolling as it is traffic and just streets. But since there are no benches for seating it doesn't gather winos or vagrants which often is the case at parks or larger junctions. Just the stairs from Pedagogen full of students. So next time, jump off the tram here and take a walk to find a new favourite shop or restaurant!

The best seats gives fun people-watching! This is a buzy square so be early on a sunny day to get a good seat. Bishops Arms, Dubliner and Jerntorgets Brygghus are the three large pubs that houses here. BA being my favorite of the three. Good selection of beer at all three. At Järntorget there are also four or five fast food places - Burger King being one of them but also a few kebab joints. Järngrillen being my favorite (for kebab roll). If you want to save the money for one or two extra beers, have a meal at any of the fast fooders before getting seated for the beer and people-watching. Järntorget is also a hub for local transportation. From here you can get in any direction of the city and outskirts. The rent bikes "Hyr & Ställ" has a station a bit north of the actual square, this goes also for the nearest ATM. A short walk.

I walked through Duty Free and bought the requisite "Daim" bars, which is a Scandinavian treat that I love! Once I got through security, I milled about and shopped, and then stopped by the lounge, which was quite good for an airport this size. I decided I wanted to check out one of the restaurants I saw in my stroll, and I headed there. My gate was near, so I ate and then headed to my gate. The room I had faced Drottningtorget and I was a bit afraid that it would be noisy because of the streetcars outside, but it didn't affect me at all. The room was very clean and fresh, so was the bathroom and shower. My only complaint would be that the iron was really lousy (leaked water but not warm enough) so it was really problematic to iron my shirt for the next day. I am glad I ironed the night before so it could dry over night! :) The breakfast buffet was a classical Swedish one, that was totally fine, but definitely nothing to write home about. The food was fresh but e.g. the cheeses were bland in their taste, the yoghurts were all of a similar taste. There were many products to chose from but the real variation in flavors was small. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We loved the beautiful lobby with the fluorescent lighting behind the crystal reception desk and the modern design of the entrance hall. The modern edgy design with bold dark colors mixed with vibrant metals is a theme throughout the hotel and created a cohesive ambiance. Our checkin (as well as checkout) was easy and everyone we interacted with was pleasant. Our room was comfortable with soft clean linens and floofy pillows. The bathroom was updated with modern tile and a nice shower and separate tub. We stayed plenty warm on this very cold February night and were very pleased with the room in general. The stunning rooftop heated pool was open even though we were there in February and it was pretty warm except for the chilling wind that finally drove us out and into the comfort of our heated shower in our room. The food here was something else. We enjoyed the massive breakfast buffet as well as our dinner at their restaurant Norda. The quality of ingredients as well as the presentations were memorable. In recap we had a great experience here and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Gothenburg.
