You can tell a lot of love and talent has gone into each one and the best bit is they start at just £20! Parking facilities are off the road and infront of the shop, for approximately 8 cars, if you cannot park here there is a street opposite that you can park along and you can cross the main road to the florist at the pedestrian crossing. Flower Power is a small fronted shop with a lovely sign saying 'Flower Power' rather boldly and it is attractive. A new shop it has an attractive and modern frontage with a gorgeous window display, in the evening or late afternoon the florist will switch the green twinkly lights on that are in the window and this has a lovely effect. Inside the shop is a beautiful selection of bouquets and wreaths (christmas is coming) and a large selection of the gorgeous smelling Yankee Candles that are origionally from America....really nice! and reasonably priced. Lovely selection of candle holders too and car freshners. Boxed gift sets available too. All kinds of occasions can be catered for and all you have to do is ask and the florist will do her very best to accomodate you. She has even done a wreath in the shape of a horses head which was stunning. From traditional designs to very modern you can discuss your requirements and I am sure you will reach a decision that will be suitable and special. All flowers are shipped in fresh from holland and are beautiful, some last longer than expected too! The shop has two chairs which are comfortable. There is a good selection of good quality cards. The florist is warm and welcoming and runs the shop with her daughter. I can highly recommend Flower Power and I am sure that you may be pleasantly surprised.

Now, I actually have a female friend who does not like flowers. Personally I think this may be a form of mental illness or denial, or both but even she likes what this shop has to offer. Bunches of pretty Gerberas start at £9.95 and all varieties of flowers are stuffed into silver buckets. The interior of this shop is quite messy but part of its appeal as it is a working shop, there is no back room in which the creations are given birth to. This is done unashamedly , for all to see and it is therapeutic watching experts at work. A really friendly blond man - I am not sure if it is the shop's namesake- was ever so helpful to me. He works alongside a lady so engrossed in her work that she did not notice the soil smeared across her cheek. Pretty sweet actually that there are people so passionate and consumed with their jobs that they are oblivious to their appearance. I defy anyone, even flower haters, not to adore the planters arranged outside the shop. Woven wicker boots in which you can plant your seeds are exquisite and come in two sizes ; £22.50 for the small pair and £35 for the large. They look like Gulliver's shoes in Lilliput. Also, Karl Welsh Floral Design stocks over-sized, huge porcelain teacups with daffodils planted in them- oh how very Alice in Wonderland. At Christmas time they stock wicker reindeer for the garden with red bows around their necks and enormous drummer boys to act as sentries beside your front door. I love this little florists, it makes you feel that Spring has come, Summer is arriving, Autumn is only a stone's throw away and Winter is wanted.

Now you don't have to worry about your bouquet dripping all over you because these flowers are neatly packaged with no extra effort needed on your behalf. I've received praise and compliments from boyfriends' mothers, for example, when turning up with one of these boxes (and occasionally a bottle of wine to sweeten the deal), and it always softens the blow of meeting the parents for the first time - especially if the mother then scolds the boyfriend for never bringing her flowers! Yeah, that relationship didn't last very long.... Anyway, back to the flowers. As you can see from the pictures, not just flowers but small trees and bushes. And if you don't want to splash out on a flower box (around £15) you can opt for picking out a few singular stems and have them wrapped up all lovely like!

The fact that it is located upon Prescott Street opposite the Royal Liverpool Hospital means that it is the ideal location to grab a pick me up for a person in need. If theres one thing that flowers do well it is to cheer up those who are down and having purchased a varied arrangement for my girlfriend from Lula recently I felt uplifted by the whole consumer experience. On my trip to Lula I purchased a varied and colourful arrangement of lilys and carnations with various other types of flowers thrown in there. This was all done on the reccomendation of the extremely helpful staff who simply asked who the flowers were for and the kind of arrangement I would like and took it from there. This kind of service is sadly missing from many modern day businesses and it was an extremely satisfying feeling to have experienced such excellent customer service and attention to detail. The arrangement cost around £7.00 which was a reasonable amount for an above par level of service. Lula is a much fresher and personal alternative to purchasing flowers which are sold at the Spa store a few doors up. If you are a Liverpool local with a need to cheer up a special someone visit Lula and I promise you will not feel dissapointed.
