For example, I walked in, she approached me, noticed that we hadn't practiced together before, and asked if I had anything that I was working through in my body (marathon yesterday; I did!). To begin, we were invited to find an inversion; she outfitted each of us with props and adjustments. The flow featured a mix of long-held poses, strength-inducing holds and traditional-ish vinyasa. Calm, focused, inspiring. I was surprised at the end of class to feel alert, relaxed, happy to meditate. Finally, I'll cite as evidence to this studio's bestness the stranger beside me who, during frog pose, after I'd moved a cushion under one of my feet, went out of his way to put his blanket by my other foot. Later, in a twist, he moved the blanket out of the way of my knees. Left feeling "worked out" and delighted to be human. Yoga is often disrupted by simultaneous fitness classes going on in the studio in the next room over that you can hear through the wall. Sometimes there are only 15 minutes between classes and it's hard to maneuver around the people coming/going and you feel really rushed. Please space out your classes better throughout the day. No waiting area so everyone is just crammed in the lobby. Really odd class times and nothing in the morning except for a 6am option... what kind of a yoga doesn't have a 9am option? Some good teachers, some not so great. It's nice during the summer, but when the students are in town it's kinda unbearable. Lavender towels after a hot class are their best feature. Unfortunately there aren't any decent yoga studios in town so this is your best bet.

She has a way with words and will truly get your weekend off to the right start. This class is taught at the Washington Street studio, which had a lot of natural light. Another perk is that the farmers market is right outside when class is over! If you have not ever practiced yoga, I urge you to check out the gentle classes. There are all ages and activity levels at the class, so no need to be shy. Get thee to yoga!

I have been taking classes here and with these instructors (through an earlier iteration of the studio) for a year now, and I am so happy with my experience overall. Pilates and yoga mat classes tend to have 3-12 people in them, and equipment classes are limited to 3-4, so (and especially if you ask) you will get a lot of personalized attention to your form. You will also get to know people in your classes and, in general, it is a great group of clients, in every category of age and fitness/shape, who will swear right through the hard stuff with you. While most of the clients seem to be women, there are a few men, so guys shouldn't feel out of place at all. Highly recommended, and walkable (right on the trial!) if you live anyplace in between ISU and IWU.

I was interested in student plan $40 initiation fee, $35/mo. I visited 4/17 and dealt with the woman at the counter. I repeatedly told her that I wanted the $40/$35 student plan. She handed me a contract for a 12 month plan, which I did not want. After going in circles with her for a bit of time, she took my credit card and fiddled with her computer. Then she handed me paperwork showing completely incorrect charges. I asked her to reverse them and fix the problem. Eventually, she gave up and got her manager, Tony, involved. Tony worked on the computer for a bit and at one point, I had several pending $64 charges on my card. Then he seemed to have the problem under control and he charged my card $40 and $18.72. Since $18.72 is more than 1/2 of $35, that charge didn't make any sense for half a month. I called Tony on 4/17 and told him that I had several authorizations on my card still. I asked if we could just forget it all and cancel the membership and refund everything, including the $40 and $18.72. He said no problem, and I emailed him a copy of the credit card bill showing the current state of it. On 4/18, two charges moved from authorization to posted - $40 and $18.72. I emailed a copy of the statement to Tony and requested that he refund the charges, as we had both agreed. It's now nearly two weeks later and I still have charges on my card. I have filed complaints with BBB and Illinois Attorney General. If they don't come to their senses soon, I'll file a lawsuit in small claims court. Having all these authorizations on my card made it impossible for me to shop for groceries for three days. I wish businesses were much more careful with charges that they post to customer cards. Accidental charges aren't just frustrating to see and resolve, they can have unanticipated consequences for cardholders. I booked an Ayurvedic consultation and took two classes in the following week. The Ayurvedic consultation was so informative and insightful. I could tell how well educated and passionate Tara is. She had never met me before and was eerily correct on so many points. I wish I had time for a couple more sessions. The two classes were great also. There is an instant connection, sense of community, and complete lack of judgement. Tara is an intuitive teacher and guide who senses what you need and are able to do or not able to do.
