First of all this is a dive. Flo's is an old school corner tavern off the beaten path. When passing by, don't let outside appearance scare you away. Most have made the trek for one of their behemoth fried pork tenderloin sandwiches. This sandwich is one of the most popular within the "pursuing pork tenderloins" FB groups for good reason! Best in the Illinois river valley. They also have fabulous bone in wings, garlic parm fries and for an appetizer you really can't go wrong with the garlic knots. On weekends they offer pasta bowls, tenderloin pizzas and numerous other specials posted on their Facebook page. When it comes to portion size they are very generous. I live practically next to this place and still have only been about 3 times in well over a year. I thought I'd be there all the time when we moved here, but the first time I went, everything we got (multiple fried apps, so easy) literally came in puddles of oil. Not like a little bit, but a literal puddle I could pour out. On top of that, the apps were not done- cold and doughy inside. Yikes. Over the next year +, we went a couple more times and just were never impressed by anything at all. I was ready to LOVE this place- what drinker doesn't love the idea of a true neighborhood bar super close to them? On top of all this were the weird social media posts that came from them about how nobody wants to work, etc. I think folks who talk about how "nobody wants to work" should realize that what they're telling the world is: nobody wants to work FOR ME (either I suck or the pay is dismal). Whatever the case, nothing compels me to return. Huge bummer. read more

I grew up in the Illinois Valley area and have had Tenderloins from just about everywhere, except Flos on Pulaski until today. Hands down the BEST Tenderloin you will find in LaSalle Co. I don't know if it's the light crunchy breading, or the thickness of the Tenderloin packed with mouth watering flavor, the very reasonable price (Hint: Thursdays are Tenderloin special day) heck maybe it's all of the above. One Tenderloin can feed 2 to 3 people. It's well worth the drive from wherever to get one. I now live in Florida where tenderloins are non existent. This was definately a treat! read more

This bar has amazing homemade food. Very few places make homemade onion rings and mushrooms. We had the onion rings and they were amazing. The homemade chicken strips were huge. The pork tenderloin two of us split it and had more than half of it to take home. We were visiting the area and were lucky to find this place. We live over an hour away and when we have a pork tenderloin craving we will drive to Flo's. We can't wait to come on the 3rd Saturday of the month for their Polish night. Great value . We have enough extra food for 2 meals. Just so you know it is in a neighborhood(like a townie bar). The staff (especially Hanna) was very attentive and knowledgeable. Answered all of our questions. Called for to go order. Agreed to hold where the phone was set down active for 15 minutes. No one picked it up until as I was walking in the door the woman with bright red hair hung it up on me. A young man who was very nice and helpful Took my tenderloin order which is $8 per the menu(.50 upcharge for takeout container), with fries(baked potato is option). Bright red haired woman brought it out and gave tab of $9.50 and walked off. Tenderloin was good, though the grease either was old old or had other food flavors in it diminishing the tenderloin flavor, in my opinion. Thin, plate sized with cracker crumbs breading. If I could give her tip to the cook I would but that would've been insulting to the cook given her tip, based on the service provided. read more

Ordered from here last night and had a terrible experience. I love Blue Gills on Friday night but the fish was spoiled and tasted bad. The waitress acted indifferent, as if I didn't exist. The Fried Chicken had NO flavor, and the Country style French Fries were cold and greasy! But the other night I thought I would give it a try and let me tell you it blew all the other pork tenderloins that I have tried since being here out of the water. Flo's on Pulaski is an iconic neighborhood tap. Been going there on and off for 40 years. Within the last 20 years or so, they have been garnering a reputation for great tavern chow. Went there last night with two other people. We had a pork tenderloin, wings, and a chicken strip dinner. Pretty standard pub fare, food was pretty good. They seemed to be operating with a skeleton crew, and service was so-so. I haven't been there in a year or two, and I was saddened to see that this charming dive bar has done what many other bars in the area have done...."renovate" the place. The original 50's era wood paneling was painted over with a depressing battleship gray paint, and all the old beer signs and beer lights were removed. No pictures or decorations on any of the walls. Looked like how I imagine the chow hall at Stateville Penitentiary looks like. Trying to "modernize" these old iconic dive bars achieves exactly the opposite effect, it makes them much less inviting. So, good job Flo's, you've managed to take a homey, cheerful tavern and make it look like the enlisted man's mess on a Navy Destroyer. read more

And if Yelp couldn't be bothered to keep my first review - that went into great depth of why Flo's implementation of special events, and the service you get during those special events is terrible... Then I guess we'll just go with a short one. You'd also find many many terrible accounts of this event on Flo's Facebook page... But she deleted them all. Have heard great things about the large portions and great prices at Flo's so finally tried it out a few weeks ago on a Friday. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, all tables were full. We hung out at the bar to wait, and were surprised that even after 25 minutes, nothing had opened up. We turned around to realize it was because no one had even received their food yet. We should have cut our losses and left, but we stuck around and placed an order. 20 minutes later a table opened up, we moved to it and then waited 35 minutes more for food. There were no ravs with the chicken family style due to a mistake in the kitchen. The food was good though, so we chocked it up to bad timing and decided we'd try it again. Fast forward to today when we stopped in for lunch. Arrived around 12:15, all tables were full with no food on them. Had a few drinks and noticed no one still had food at 12:45, so we decided to order and just eat at the bar. Food for the other tables comes out, they eat, leave, their tables get bussed, and suddenly we're the only ones left. It's now 1:50 and we still have no food. I checked with the bartender and see said it should be out soon. Five minutes later out comes the chicken family style, again with no ravs. The waitress apologized for the ridiculous wait and even comped our meal. However, two consecutive bad experiences suggests to me that this how they regularly do business. There are plenty of other great chicken places in the area where eating doesnt require a two hour wait. We won't be back. read more

Do not order the $5 pork tenderloin. I ordered them for my crew yesterday for lunch, and nothing got done the rest of the day. There was so much food that they spent the whole afternoon eating them. Maybe if you have some vacation time saved, or you are a competitive eater, then you won't ruin your life getting one of these. Sure they tasted awesome, and everything was cooked perfectly, but do you really want to spend the rest of your day finishing off this amazing sandwich? It's not your normal day when things are going great that restaurants should be graded on. No... it's days like today when you judge an establishment. And Flo's failed miserably. For the most part, Flo's is my occasional Thursday spot for a decent tenderloin sandwich & fries. It's not as good as Polancic's, but for its price... I'm not complaining. Then came today - an event that was plastered ALL OVER social media (that's important here shortly...) It was a special event featuring carnival food! Corn dogs, funnel cakes, elephant ears, lemon shake-ups!! To say I was excited would be an understatement. Flo's is listed as opening at 11am. I was in a meeting until 11:30. I placed my order over the phone at 11:36 - not a large order - 5 items - and was told I could pick it up at 1pm. I arrived about 5 minutes early to a line of 4 cars in front of me... about 4 tables sitting outside... and a number of people standing outside the front door. They were also doing delivery (I'll have something to say about that later...) Someone came to my window within minutes to get my name. That same person walked in and out of Flo's no less than 20 times over the next hour. Cars in front of me received their food. Cars behind me received their food. People out at tables received food - some tables several times... A guy that walked up and placed his order at 1pm right after I arrived... HE received his food. The lady that was serving the car line knew what my name was... she said it in a snarky tone several times around the 30 minute mark... Yeah - at this point I had no more patience to continue smiling politely at the employees walking past my vehicle... I hollered for the lady who had been serving the tables and asked how much longer I was supposed to wait. At this point, I was THE ONLY person waiting for food. I looked around... WTF? I was THE ONLY PERSON AT ALL!!! She brought out a bag that looked awfully small, looked at the ticket and said, "We ran out of the candied bacon so I just took it off the ticket." So for over an hour, nobody bothered to come out and ask me if I'd like to replace that item for something different. The food? Of the 4 items received, the corn dog could be called "great". The rest was terrible - especially what they called "funnel cake" (hint: it wasn't). I wasn't the only one with this experience. The same social media that was plastered with ads for this event earlier in the day were now filled with responses similar to this. Their excuse? They weren't expecting the response that they ended up getting. Oh.. and the delivery I mentioned earlier? ONE F(*&ING DRIVER. Poor implementation. Poor service. Poor food. You can try again Flo's, but you won't see me waiting again. read more

I ordered food from here and they said it would take an hour to get to my house!!!!! First off I only live 5 mins away from the place!!! An hour and a half later, I call and ask where my food is, and I get hung up on. After an hour and 45 mins later, I finally get my food. COLD. Food was only ok. I picked this place because I was told the food was so good and being from out of town I believed it until we tried it. The cheese bites were awsome. The service was not good at all. Either the waitress was brand new or she had no idea how to wait on a large party plus a few smaller tables. A very quaint restaurant and a hidden gem. We arrived at Noon on Sunday with 17 people in a motorcycle group. (We had called ahead to let them know a big group was showing up.) It was HOT, about 90 degrees outside. When we arrived, the servers immediately put about 6 pitchers of ice water on our table. That was appreciated by everyone. The servers were very attentive, took our orders quickly and checked back regularly to see if we needed anything. The food came out quickly. It was all very fresh and hot. They handled our large group well, got all the separate checks correct, and overall made us feel very welcome. The breaded pork tenderloin sandwich is one of the best I have had.
