Outstanding Emergency Care at West Boca Medical Center…read more I recently visited the Emergency Room at West Boca Medical Center, 21644 State Road 7, Boca Raton, with a serious thumb injury. I want to thank Dr. Mark Khilnani, MD, Ivan, Joe, Ryan, Jenny, and the entire ER team for the exceptional care I received. What impressed me most was the speed and efficiency of the care. There was virtually no waiting. Within minutes of arriving, I was brought in, evaluated, sent for X-rays, had blood work completed, and received treatment for my injury. The staff worked together like a well-coordinated team, and everything moved quickly without ever making me feel rushed. My wound was carefully cleaned, examined, and treated. The team stitched me up, managed my pain, and most importantly, saved my thumb. Throughout the entire process, everyone was professional, compassionate, reassuring, and highly skilled. What could have been a very stressful experience turned into one where I felt confident I was receiving excellent care. I was especially impressed by how pain-free the treatment was. From the cleaning of the wound to the stitches, the staff took their time, explained everything, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. My only suggestion for improvement involves the billing process. While dealing with an injury and completing numerous forms on a tablet, I later noticed a credit card charge that I did not specifically remember authorizing. There may have been information contained within the electronic paperwork, but I believe payment authorizations could be explained more clearly to patients during emergency situations. That said, the quality of the medical care I received was outstanding. The fast response, excellent treatment, professionalism, and successful outcome are what I will remember most. Finally getting a brand new pyrocarbon titanium shoulder after years of pain and limited motion…read more The front of the medical center was clean and thankfully a smoke free area. At 530am the front doors promptly opened to the lobby and met with the bubbly registrar Diane who made check in simple and quick. Security walked me up to the waiting room where I sat for a bit then prep for surgery. They knocked me out with some great stuff and the surgery was a success. Cudos to Dr Johnathan Levy. Went home and began my brutal 12 week recovery.

They bandaged it, gave me an oral antibiotic and sent me home. 2 days later I was in this ER. It turns out that after having a full wound workup with bloodwork I had cellulitis that if left untreated could have killed me. They were very efficient and professional. I truly trust them.

Just needed a quick Strep check (couldn't get an appt. with my PCP):…read moreThey answered our initial calls quickly with precise info; online check-in available (I chose to just drive over, 6vs1/2dozen); walk-ins available and they are pretty honest with wait times; wait list and patient in-take order posted on dedicated monitor; waiting room is spacious, airy and clean; comfy chairs for 20, tv, coffee/tea, charging station; decent clean surface protocol with tissues, sanitizer, pens, etc.,; needs better protocol for restroom and exit handle; first time intake was fairly easy (2 quick pages); I waited 40 mins to go in, better than ER wait-time for sure; vitals was very quick and efficient; PA was quick, alert, efficient yet personable and friendly; took 5 minutes to get quick Strep test results (though I have heard these are unreliable); orders and Rx were clearly communicated verbally and in print out; Rx for "just in case" antibiotics were sent straight to my pharmacy; I be I believe this is a good spot to fill the gap between PCP and ER.

DOCTORS: extremely pleasant, personable and thorough; they ask questions, listen to the answers, are keen on follow-up and repeat their instructions unbidden. ASSISTANTS: this has been more 50/50, and, honestly, every visit it seems as if the staff is more inept, clueless and incapable if the simplest data entry than the visit before. There are two very competent assistants, and about six completely incompetent others that have no business being anywhere near data entry, phones, diagnostic devices or people in general. They seem confused every time I show up for an appointment they made, scurry about and make several phone calls trying to figure out how they screwed up (again), and several intake techs seriously fo mot even know the proper way to take your blood pressure (despite ubiquitous display charts everywhere, which they presumably can't/don't read). One girl couldn't get my height right...she asked me to crouch so she could read it! Ludicrous. Doctors, great! The idiocy to put up with to see the doctors? Preposterous.

Because he had a private room, he was able to control the TV just like he does at home, which made him feel a little more at ease. I was impressed by how genuinely the staff seemed to care about him. Even the charge nurse I spoke with was helpful and took the time to answer my questions, even though she was busy. The hospital itself was immaculate, but what stood out most was the compassion and care from the staff. I appreciate everyone who took such great care of my friend during a very difficult time.

The woman at the front desk of the ER was very welcoming and polite to me and every one else that I watched come into the ER. They have you fill out one paper form and then a link is sent to your phone to sign other intake forms which was convenient, but I do wish I got a downloadable copy of what I signed. The wait in the ER lobby was about an hour until I got taken back to have my vitals grabbed and told I'd be sent to a room soon and then was sent back into the lobby to wait for another hour. They do have an RN that politely walks around the lobby checking on the people waiting and nicely asking what their symptoms are to see if there's any more urgency. I've never come through the ER before but I feel like 2 hours to get to a bed wasn't so bad considering it was a Friday night. I came in around 8 and was into an ER bed by 10:00. Shout out to whoever came in (forgot her name) who was so eager to answer my questions and even had someone else come in to verify my questions regarding insurance benefits and my concern for care costs. Shout out to my ER nurse named St. Luis who was holding it down in her pod with a good attitude, and let me annoy her about the placement of my IV line 2/3 times. But I did stay in that ER bed from 10:30 until they admitted me into an actual hospital room at 3:30AM. I felt like that was a really long time especially because I couldn't sleep due to the lights and the constant beeping/chaos of the ER. Not sure if that is a typical wait time or not but when I asked they said they were still waiting on a hospital room to be assigned, and I didn't get the anxiety medication I asked for around 11:00 until 3:30 when they moved me. I'm removing 1 star because as I was walking into the bathroom a nurse cut me to dispose of a full bed pain of someone's bloody urine into the toilet and left blood on the seat so I found a new bathroom. The second bathroom has piss all around the toilet which I inevitably got on my shoes and pajama pants so make sure you're wearing something with a tapered leg if you know you're coming in and some shoes you don't care about. There were also no seat covers in that bathroom which I feel like is needed in the sets My bed also didn't have any pillows or blankets, luckily I brought my own because it was freezing. I also noticed dried blood and just general uncleanliness on the handles of the ER bed.

I wouldn't have been able to have been seen until March 13th, but I was willing to wait for a great doctor, so I said ok. This past Friday (Feb 24th) they called me to inform me that Dr Fields doesn't normally see new patients at that date / time but they'd honor it since I had already waited for months. They also told me that the person who made the appointment didn't take all my info. Ok, no prob. She then asked what the reason for my appointment was and I told her yearly checkup and she said that Dr Fields is a cardiologist and does not see new patients for IM. I explained that my insurance said she was an internist, and that I also told the person I made the appointment with that. She said, "Yeah she made a lot of mistakes". ??? So I asked if they could at least suggest a new Dr and she just started reading off a list in a monotone voice. You could tell she couldn't vouch for them. I said forget it I'll just go through my insurance like I did months ago and hung up. To say I was angry was an understatement. I could've seen another Dr months ago. What a waste of time, all because they hired someone incompetent. Smh

They insisted on 443 dollars to be refunded when the insurance paid. My insurance paid in full 4 days after. I called them to ask ifs thet can juat put the paymebt back on my credit card, theyw said they do not do that. Ok, so then i asked can I come in and pick up the check they said. No, and it will take 30 days to refund. I have called them 4 times in the past 2 months to see if the check has been mailed as I have not received anything. She said thet cannot check it is pending approval. I asked what apptoval, your company has been paid 100 percent 2 months ago. She said she cannot check to confirm if and when that refund will go through. I called my insurance company and I am waiting on a respnse from them at this time. My next task is to put a formal complaint with the BBB. They should be paying my interest now. It is such a shame that they are so perfect in other ways and yet so greedy.
