But it was very fun and they sold 12-oz. cans of Little Kings for only $2. There was a mobile food van with burgers, etc. The unique painted murals, boutiques, and buildings added a lot of flair and flavor to the event. It's right outside the Know Theater and takes place during the week of Fringe Festival. There was dog parade, women of small trikes, and the drag races with teams of four. From what I could see only two teams competed this year? It was very small, I was hoping for more relay teams.

Check the website for the exact date. It always is around the Pride Alive festival at some point. This is how it works: You have a team of 3 or 4 men. You have an outfit complete with dress, shoes, wig, and purse. The race begins and your first team member puts on all the clothing and accessories. Then they run to the other end where another team member is waiting and then they have to switch clothing. The team to have all their members exchange clothes and make it to the final leg first wins! It…read morecertainly doesn't hurt that it's in the charming Hyde Park neighborhood just outside of Cincy. My husband raced Friday night in Madeira and Saturday at Hyde Park. I typically make an adventure of it to scope out the neighborhood and festivities. This particular day-long fest featured a 5k in the morning, more than ten brewery booths, five to ten food booths along with the brick and mortar businesses surrounding the criterium's path. The announcers made this event super fun from a spectator standpoint and around 75+ racers showed up for the Category 1 men's race at the end of the night. I love that the race takes place at the end of the day allowing the temperatures and sun to drop. Free to attend for spectators and $40+ for cyclists to enter.

Hyde Park Blast is a fun race that draws walkers, runners, and bikers of all abilities and levels…read moreof competitiveness. I participated in the walk/run race in the morning. The race in the morning is a bit longer than a 5k (it's about 4 miles). Local running groups like the Running Spot offer training for this event and the participants range from super fast people up front to those in no particular hurry in back- no need to feel self conscious signing up for this race if you are not super speedy- everyone is there to raise money to fight cancer and that's what counts. The registration fee, which goes towards fighting cancer, also includes a shirt and a finisher's gift at the end (this year sunglasses). This is not an event that will leave you famished. Plenty of local eateries and stores are on hand to give you free snacks and beverages (an adult beverage is included for those of age as well). Gear is also available for purchase at the event. Probably the only hassle involved in this event is parking which is to be expected- but otherwise it's a fun, mostly flat route for a great cause! I had an amazing time despite missing so many cool events: Sausage Queen, underground Brewery Tour, Gemütlichkeit games: missed them. 2019 was the 27th Bockfest. If you've never been, think: costumes with pagan-like themes: monks, goats - all of the necessary accoutrements to kick off a spring celebration. It's like late Winter Oktoberfest! You can look up the whole Bockfest history online, but it's a celebration of Lenten drinking my German monks - whatever you need to tell yourself... Mark your calendar for next year. Better yet: do the Bockfest 5K -- the race benefits the formation of a historic Cincinnati brewery district (of which the wheels are now in motion!) You get two beer tickets and a Skyline coney if you run. Find me in the coney line in 2020 for Bockfest 28!

The venue feels very safe, with bag checks and scanners at the entrance. Bathrooms are spacious and clean. The theater itself has excellent acoustics and a large stage. There is always something exciting on the schedule, and ticket prices are usually reasonable. It's a great option for a family outing, date night, girls' night, or even a solo treat. Doors open about an hour before showtime, with access to the theater seating available 30 minutes prior.

The museum itself is incredibly hands-on and interactive. My kids could have stayed all day. The water play area was a huge hit (bring a change of clothes or use the smocks they provide), and the construction zone with life-size building blocks kept them busy for ages. I loved that it's set up in a way where kids can explore independently but parents can still keep an eye on them easily. The staff was friendly and kept things clean, which I appreciated since little ones are touching everything. The whole museum is very family-friendly, with spaces for toddlers as well as older kids, so no one feels left out. Another bonus: since it's inside the larger Museum Center, you can easily combine your visit with the Natural History Museum or an IMAX show. The lobby has two concession stands with snacks and beverages, including alcoholic options, and there's usually a merchandise booth as well. During The Nutcracker, they had the most beautiful ballerina ornaments for sale--such a lovely touch. Parking is easy, too. There's a public garage right across the street, plus street parking nearby. Overall, an elegant venue and a wonderful night out. Highly recommend.

I came here last minute to see the show Greetings, as a friend had invited me to come along. I had…read morenever been to this theater before, but know the area very well. In fact, my grandfather used to live off of Sunset in 90s. It is in a great location and has wonderful views of the park on the way to the theater with tons of parking. The theater is in a revamped gym building that has it's own character and is quite beautiful. The only dislike is that all the front glass doors are broken except for the 1 on the far right - this makes it hard to get in and out of the building when there is a crowd. This could also be a potential safety hazard. Entering the theater there are quite a few rooms and a library which is beautiful. The stage is set back and they do have seating on the ground floor with standard folding chairs and stadium seating up in the back. This particular show was quite good. I loved the story itself and the one actor who played Mickey was absolutely wonderful!!! There were a few lines that were definitely skipped over. I have not seen the show before and could definitely tell there were lines skipped as things would be mentioned and wouldn't make sense - clearly lines were skipped explaining the setup I enjoyed the show and the theater. I would see a show here again.

The gym they are using was rather hot so you can probably leave your coat in the car. Refreshments at intermission were yummy (they had my fav pretzels!!) and low cost.
