This review is specifically for workshops and not arrangements/events or weddings…read more Recently attended (and gifted my mother) the Floral Fundamentals 101 Workshop and left feeling pretty bummed. While Sarah is warm and clearly knowledgeable, the class was advertised as a "demonstration on transforming a grocery store wrapped bouquet into a beautiful centerpiece." I had assumed given the description, that the instructor would have purchased an actual grocery store bouquet for demonstration and then demonstrated ways to spruce it up at home with design, different flowers, techniques, etc.. While the flowers provided were beautiful, unique and most importantly, grown locally, each flower provided for this workshop is not likely to be available in most grocery stores and therefore, would need to be substituted, something the instructor didn't offer without prompting, it seemed. So, the entire class was just "we're using this line flower or this greenery but when you go to the grocery store, try this flower, that flower or option #3, instead." For me, the format of the class just didn't make any sense in terms of actually helping folks transform accessible, locally purchased grocery store flowers. Additionally, the price ($75 per person) was extremely steep considering there were no bevvies and/or apps included. I have been lucky enough to take courses with several other local florists with many of them providing a least one cocktail or glass of wine, a charcuterie cup (or something similar) and the same amount of blooms for the same price or less. I did learn a bit about how to extend the life of the flowers and had some myths busted surrounding flower food, cooling the flowers, etc., I am just so bummed that the class didn't actually offer what we signed up for at a very unaffordable price.

We sent her some photos of flowers we liked, our attire and described the colors we were going for and our general vibe. She came up with a gorgeous design. Shannon took my varied pinterest board and minimal guidance and created these gorgeous arrangements that look amazing in our photos, were great on our tables, and even listened on the day-of when the pinwheels and elements they had put on the arbor didn't fit what I thought we had discussed and quickly re-arranged things to place flowers there instead, minutes before the ceremony was meant to begin. Shannon even allowed me to deliver some photo charms for my mother in law's bouquet and one for my own to personalize the flowers. I mentioned I wanted to surprise her with an arrangement that had a color palette for the fall and could be used for Thanksgiving. We opted for a table arrangement that had a copper bowl and would be ideal for a centerpiece. Only had to pay $10 for delivery and holy crap were the flowers beautiful. I asked them to send me photos before delivery and I was 1000% pleased. I'll absolutely be working with The Holly Berry for any future needs.
